Possibly and in modern society, probably - but in isolation there is nothing wrong with carbs, nor is there a problem with them as part of a balanced diet, I think that should be made clear for the fella.

Just been on a calorie consumption website and it gives me a daily maintenance calorie level of 2297.

    My BMI is 25.

In fairness I do eat quite a lot of pasta/bread, been told by a few people I need to cut down on that.

Just weighed myself and I'm 13 stone 5.

It's the heaviest I've been in my life and I would like to trim back a bit.

Cheers for the advice so far, much appreciated.

Ive never understood how this is even possible, they are in pretty much everything. I know a few people who dont eat carbs at all it must reduce what they can eat to a handful of foods plus they must be knackered all the time surely. I thought carbs were the bodies main source of energy.

Anyone who avoids CHO are clueless. Correct amounts of CHO is essential. Optimal Glycogen stores in the muscles and liver is important. Any type of medium/long based exercise routines would require them. Without them you would simply fatigue.

People who claim these diets work should live in LA or something.

A balanced diet is just that, you need at least some of everything.

I think what i said has been somewhat taken out of context. I meant try and limit foods like bread etc as you will be probably getting you daily carbs amount somewhere else.

Gonna be going to Sunderland Uni in September, haven't a clue what I'm going to be eating for me lunch that isn't full of shit or has a load of calories. It'd be a bit impractical taking my own (Unless I end up taking a laptop and taking a bag). Any suggestions?
