Crazy idea. Imagine the carnage of everyone trying to take off out the top of the stadium all at once. It'd be like a couple of fat lads trying to get through a door at the same time.
Everyone would get wedged and 48000 jetpacks might generate enough power to take the existing roof off. Then we'd have to replace the current roof let alone instal a new one.
You sir, have not thought it through.

take into account those who dont stay until the end and it would just be a steady flow, probably quite achievable

[QUOTE=Wise Man Says;12948194]Watching Wimbledon (Centre Court) last week and hearing about QPR's planned new stadium got me thinking.

Given how bad our pitch gets in winter, how feasible is it that we put a retractable roof on the SOL?

It could be worth looking into IMO, it would make our pitch much nicer and the SOL much warmer for spectators.[/QUOTE

Roker Park was far more exposed to the elements and was one of the best playing surfaces in the country.

So the problem lies either with the composition of the playing surface, how its being looked after, or both.

A retractable roof may not be technically possible, as the structure may not be able to accept the additional weight without major structural strengthening works.

Either way, the cost would probably be prohibitive.

    So, no.
