    Default New compact required

    Looking for a new compact after our Canon S95 was stolen on holiday a few weeks ago.

    The insurance cheque has come through so we're looking to buy soon.
    Budget is approx £250.

    I'm tempted to buy another s95 as although we didn't take advantage of that my advanced features it took a nice photo. However it's almost 2 years old and possibly we should be looking for something a bit newer. The S100 and Sony NEX series are out of our reach. So I've been looking at the Canon sx260hs.

    Has anyone got this camera and why do thy think of it?
    I'm aware the sensor in the sx is not as good as the S95 so low light shots may not be as good but it should make up for it in other areas. They both appear to be roughly the same price on Amazon.

    Ah, Hope mine works then. You can get it for under £300 at the airport also. Would you get a warranty then? My credit card provides some cover though if it goes wrong.

    Not sure in airports, it's probably cheaper because the duty has not been paid - in which case it's probably UK stock without the import levy.

    I've got loads of gray stuff Peach, but it's covered by my camera insurance.

    Anyone else? Can't see me buying a camera without a UK warranty or getting stung for import duty TBH.

    The fixed lens Lumix LX3 is great, if not quite as versatile as the S95.

    Or summat like this if you were prepared to spend a bit more;

    Cheers but I bought the sx260hs a couple of days ago

    Was tempted with the Lumix LX5 but again that kit is now 2 years old.
