Hawes Get together - June 2012
We have the Big Top at Skipton around about the time of this event and the little fellas in our Circus troupe would like to participate in the Hawes tug of war. The combined weight of their team of five would be twenty three stone or thereabouts. Are there any other vertically challenged persons intending to attend the event and who would compete against our team in this event?
Or, alternatively, they would challenge a team of two with a combined weight of twenty three stone. Failing that they would be prepared to use the handicap weight to yardage advantage as a method of fair play.
We also hope to bring along a small parade of clowns, lions, zebras, tigers, camels and the Circus band. For this to happen, we would require the assistance of a local farmer who could provide a hedgerow to allow us to tether the lions, tigers and other animals for an hour or two. Any supply of raw meat, hay and water would be most welcome.
