77 players signed in Quinn era - best team, and a good culture to have?
Since SNQ took the helm in August 2006, my approximation is we have signed 77 players, incl 12 loanees... What would be your best team/squad selected from the following? (And how many are still here...?)
6 GKs: Ward, Fulop, Gordon, Colgan, Mignolet, Westwood
14 CBs: Varga, Evans (loan), Higginbotham, Anderson, M'voto, Ferdinand, Ben Haim (loan), Davenport (loan), Turner, da Silva, Mensah (loan), Kilgallon, Bramble, Brown
9 RBs: Simpson (loan), Halford, McShane, Bardsley, Chimbonda, Hutton (loan), Onouha (loan), Angeleri, O'Shea
4 LBs: Clive Clarke, Robbie Elliott, Harte, McCartney (77 players signed and not a decent left back!)
13 CMs: A Riera, G Kavanagh, L Miller, D Yorke, D Etuhu, D Meyler, T Tainio, L Cattermole, L Cana, C Riveros, S Muntari (loan), C Gardner, D Vaughan
5 RMs: Mocquet, Edwards, Malbranque, Elmohamedy, Larsson
6 LMs: Hysen, Wallace, Richardson, Reid, Zenden, McClean
20 (TWENTY!) CFs: Connolly, John, Stokes, Chopra, Jones, Cole, O'Donovan, Prica, Diouf, Cisse (loan), Healy, Bent, Campbell, Benjani (loan), Gyan, Welbeck (loan), Sessegnon, Wickham, Ji, Bendtner (loan)
This asks a whole bigger question about the idea of "building" a team and squad... and what influence Quinn,as chairman, should have over what seems an absolutely ridiculous level of player turnover when looked at like this.
For info, 24 of the 77 are English-born; 20 are "Celtic"-born; there are 16 Europeans and 17 from around the world, although Etuhu grew up in Peckham!
Too much Red Bull if you're wondering what triggered this "survey". Apologies for any omissions. Any thoughts?
