77 players signed in Quinn era - best team, and a good culture to have?
Since SNQ took the helm in August 2006, my approximation is we have signed 77 players, incl 12 loanees... What would be your best team/squad selected from the following? (And how many are still here...?)
6 GKs: Ward, Fulop, Gordon, Colgan, Mignolet, Westwood
14 CBs: Varga, Evans (loan), Higginbotham, Anderson, M'voto, Ferdinand, Ben Haim (loan), Davenport (loan), Turner, da Silva, Mensah (loan), Kilgallon, Bramble, Brown
9 RBs: Simpson (loan), Halford, McShane, Bardsley, Chimbonda, Hutton (loan), Onouha (loan), Angeleri, O'Shea
4 LBs: Clive Clarke, Robbie Elliott, Harte, McCartney (77 players signed and not a decent left back!)
13 CMs: A Riera, G Kavanagh, L Miller, D Yorke, D Etuhu, D Meyler, T Tainio, L Cattermole, L Cana, C Riveros, S Muntari (loan), C Gardner, D Vaughan
5 RMs: Mocquet, Edwards, Malbranque, Elmohamedy, Larsson
6 LMs: Hysen, Wallace, Richardson, Reid, Zenden, McClean
20 (TWENTY!) CFs: Connolly, John, Stokes, Chopra, Jones, Cole, O'Donovan, Prica, Diouf, Cisse (loan), Healy, Bent, Campbell, Benjani (loan), Gyan, Welbeck (loan), Sessegnon, Wickham, Ji, Bendtner (loan)
This asks a whole bigger question about the idea of "building" a team and squad... and what influence Quinn,as chairman, should have over what seems an absolutely ridiculous level of player turnover when looked at like this.
For info, 24 of the 77 are English-born; 20 are "Celtic"-born; there are 16 Europeans and 17 from around the world, although Etuhu grew up in Peckham!
Too much Red Bull if you're wondering what triggered this "survey". Apologies for any omissions. Any thoughts?

Not much to choose from tbh!
had to base some choices not on longevity but just on overall contribution and/or impact on certain situations (ie: Yorke - sublime in the 2-1 mags win 2008)

Tidied
GK: Ward, just for nostalgia reasons from that great promotion season
CBs: Evans
Brown both class acts in defence on and off the ball
FBs: Bardsley, not the most skilful player but has improved a lot in his time here, never lacks desire or willing to fight for the cause
O'Shea class act, great signing for the club considering experience, ability etc
CMs: D Yorke, very experienced tidy player, pity his legs had gone. great link between players and management, good role model to younger players (on the pitch, some probably preferred him as an off field role model mind)
D Meyler, one for the future. good footballing brain. has his doubters (understnadably) on here who he should prove wrong once he regains full fitness. another tidy player, never looks rushed in possession, always wants the ball even under pressure and can go box to box if needed. sign of a good central midfielder is the ability to let the ball run across their body and switch play, has this in abundence.
RM: Malbranque, good servant for the club if sometimes frustrating, if he had pace and could finish he'd play for Madrid. Technically sound, loved to get stuck in and had a good footballing brain, pity the legs wouldn't do what the mind was wanting.
LM: Richardson, a victim of his own perceived versatility! very frustrating player who goes through patches of showing good form before reverting back to being terrible. not so much a confidence player but very patchy form wise. great goal against the scum apart has served well on many other occasions (man marking A.Cole out of game, his goal scoring run playing behind front man) yet always frustrates, mostly as he refuses to use his right foot and plays himself into trouble!
CFs: Bent, Yes he's a judas, and yes he was a bad 'footballer' but the bloke was a bllody good goal scorer and even if he done nowt for 89 mins he'd still likely put one in for you!
Bendtner (loan) potentially could be a great signing, good pedigree, very underrated, although not in his own head but who doesn't love confidence in their players!

Re: 77 players signed in Quinn era - best team, and a good culture to have?
77 players in five years pretty much sums up the reason why were in the position we find ourselves in!
Yes! We are still in the premier league, but we need some consistency in the team. Or should I say, we need a team to become precisely that - a team.
Such a high turnover of staff is just not a healthy position for any company, and I hope this is something our next manager will see and fix. We need a long term strategy if we are to achieve anything of real substance!

Re: 77 players signed in Quinn era - best team, and a good culture to have?
Gordan- Still the best keeper at the club, bad luck with injuries
Hutton- brought something different to the table good attacking wing back which i feel we still need in the current squad
Brown- classy centre half best player so far this season
Evans- quality player for the club, if he is ever available i would like to think we would go back in for him
O'shea- undoubtable quality best yet to come at SAFC though
Larsson- Would pick him for the quality of set pieces and fantastic target man suply
Cana- Tall presence in midefield and on his day could carry the team through good leadership qualities, allthough sometimes frustrating
Meyler- looked fantastic in th games i have watched of him and were unlucky to have had the lad injured good passer and tackler and a great work rate and attitude toward the club.
Richardson- For the sheer pace he can offer on the left and decent goal scoring record
Bent- best striker since phillips always gets 15-20 goals a season would walk into the team now even if he is a judas!
Jones- with someone to motivate him hes un-playable but his record is around 10 goals a season which is decent plus assists and presence, Bent and Jones were the best partnership at SAFC since quinn and phillips.

Re: 77 players signed in Quinn era - best team, and a good culture to have?
cheers; a "most popular team" clearly emerging.
any thoughts on whether this has been a good thing. We obviously had a very different starting point in Aug 2006,but in last six years Man U seem to try and sign three players a year; on average we have signed nearly three centre-backs each year...
