A MAN had his EARS, a LIP, and part of his NOSE bitten off after being attacked by a love rival in a sickening street fight.

The 31-year-old victim was set upon outside a nightclub by another man after the pair clashed over a girl.
The victim was knocked to the floor and punched in the head NINE times before the attacker leaned in and began "eating away at his face and head".
A policeman investigating the assault said it reminded him of a lion "wrenching the flesh from a gazelle" and described it as the most sickening attack he had seen in his 27-year career.
The fight occurred outside the Funky Box nightspot in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of Saturday.
The injured man, from Wavertree, Liverpool, was rushed to hospital and is due to undergo plastic surgery in an attempt to rebuild his face, but only one ear was found at the scene of the attack, which was captured on CCTV.

Barbaric

PC Stuart Moore said: "It is horrific, sickening and it is almost barbaric what takes place.
"The footage shows a fight between two males. The victim and the assailant could be seen brawling in the street. Both males fall to the floor and there's a struggle.
"A second male appears to be protecting the people involved to make sure the fight continues and the assailant starts reigning blows.
"There are nine consecutive punches while he lies on the floor.
"The assailant can be seen to place his head down by the victim. He starts eating away at his face and his head.
"The male has had his two ears bitten off, part of his nose bitten off and half of his lip bitten off.
"The attack reminded me of a lion wrenching the flesh off a gazelle.
"In 27 years in the police, this is as sickening an attack as I have seen."
On Monday a 28-year old man, from Sefton Park, charged with assault was remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on November 28.
A man, 27, arrested on suspicion of assault was bailed until November pending further enquiries.
Funky Box, currently being investigated for a string of assaults, was shut today on police advice using emergency powers.
PC Moore told the council's licensing committee: "The concerns that we have are that we have a premises that has a phenomenal history of violence both inside and outside.



"We now feel we have to act quickly and swiftly. If we leave it open in its current state we could be dealing with a fatality soon.
"As a result of them being at the venue and being served alcohol, we ended up with a very serious incident."
Solicitor Carl Bruder, representing Funky Box, insisted that the premises could not be held responsible for an attack which happened 15 minutes after the men left the bar.
He said: "This incident, as horrible as it clearly is, cannot be laid at the door of the premises or its operators."
A full review of the venue's licence will be held on September 19.
