Anyone think that Western society is showing signs of it?
I've lived through three recessions and this one threatens to be by far the worst, we're nowhere near the bottom yet and a lot of people are in for a rude awakening.
Even Rome (including the Byzantines) eventually crumbled, it seems to me like we're living on borrowed time

I don't know what the answer is, but from it's inception in Tolpuddle in the 1830s the Labour movement was created to protect the british working class and it's created the welfare state that we all enjoy today.
The party has been hijacked by a bunch of pseudo middle class tossers who view politics as a vocation as opposed to an obligation and are more interested in fiddling expenses than protecting the interests of their constituents.
George galloway might be a nutter but he hit the nail on the head.
The people in charge of the economies in most Western countries now are total wankers and the protests in the Eurozone will spread.

That would be the financial institutions - they're not wankers, they're just out to make as much for themselves as possible. The governments only react to whatever is handed to them.

The information age has changed the boundaries and we're in unfamiliar waters, never before have we had so much information exchanging hands so quickly globally. I do think that the media play its part in stirring up a hornets nest but i'd like to think thats there still enough decent people to keep things on the right track
