    Default McClean on Sat

Let me preface this by saying I think he's been immense for us and remains a very dangerous player. But Saturday he frustrated me. MON needs to tell him that he doesn't need to try and take on 2-3 defenders alone. The frequency with which he did that and lost the ball was irritating. But I admire his confidence in making the attempts, I suppose...

I hate it when confidence is coached out of bright young players. He should be encouraged to keep going as he is.

Tremendous work rate, good crosser, very frustrating at times

He megged two players in the first few minutes - dunno why I said that, but I enjoyed it.

Anyway, NEVER EVER tell a player not to attack opposition. His job is to do exactly that. Aye, he might lose the ball sometimes, but that's part and parcel of being a winger.

Usually took two or three of them out of the game, even when they stopped him and the ball bounced free.

The fact that two or three of the opposition are chasing after him creates space elsewhere. McClean is a class act!

If he is creating space for two or three players and then not getting them the ball then what the use of that......get the ball away and then make a run for a return pass......easy peasy!!

He's a very direct winger, and I like that. We're just going to have to accept he's going to lose possession sometimes when his dribbles don't come off.
I agree with burchem......losing possession while going forward going against 2 or 3 players is just stupid.....pass the ball!! Sessegnon does the same to McClean holds the ball while McClean is open.....they need to start linking up better.

Exactly! He was scaring them as he ran at them, and skinned them a few times too.

This with bells on. Yes he lost it a few times on Sat, but on the whole I love his directness. We just need the strikers to be on his wavelength more. Only Campbell looks like he can get on the end of some of his crosses.

On a side note, anyone else notice the rest of the team don't pass to him when he gets in some topper positions? Probably not used to a player hugging the touch line as much as he does.
