Knee injury
Playing football yesterday and I've went in for a tackle and aggrivated an old injury to my left knee.
Know if I keep it straight then go to bend it, this leaves me in agony. As does trying to straighten my leg after it's been bent for a few seconds. Literally couldn't sleep through the pain last night, and have been taking painkillers like tic tacs all day.
I've also had anti-arthritis cream on which is meant to relax muscles and joints.
If you were in my position would you go get it checked out at the walk in centre, or just stay on the painkillers?
Any help appreciated, any suggestions that I'm getting my leg amputated, please don't.

Re: Knee injury
Aren't you better off getting an appointment with a physio at your doctors? If you can't wait I'd get to the walk in centre as quickly as possible.
Can you bend the knee at all? Sounds like you've got ligament damage

For about 3 seconds, I'm in constant pain even with pain killers, ligament damage is what I'm fearing.
The thing about the walk in centre is I fear they'll x-ray me, see it's not broke then ship me out with more pain killers.

You'll have just strained it mate, i know what you're going through and it fucking nacks, i doubt you'll get a good night sleep either with the pain, but if you do the RICE method is will keep away swelling and also will stop the " pain " once you bend the knee, that's what it's for.

Re: Knee injury
I'd get a physio appointment sorted. If it is just a strain then they'll give you a stretching routine to try when the pain starts to go away.

Re: Knee injury
Cheers for all the input lads, I'll ring the doctors in the morning and just see what they recommend or see if they can give me a physio's number.
Cheers, BB

As someone who tried to ignore knee pan thinking just this, and ended up under the knife after 18 months with all kinds of problems, please ingnore this and go and get it sorted.
If it is a strain then all well and good, but it might be something else.

It's not like he can't walk, he's explained exactly what has happened to me and many other people. It's just a strain of the tendons/ligaments. He could leave it and NOT do the RICE method and he'll be fine. Although, i am only 19, i don't know how old he is, maybe for some older lads it could cause a problem or two.

Can you walk? Does it feel quite alright after you've bent it abit and are walking on it? With just a little constant pain frustrating you? If so, just stick to that method, you'll be fine in 3 weeks.
