Gordon - excellent, like he's never been away. Couple of punches when he could have caught but some excellent saves and his first one low down to his right was outstanding. 8

Onouha - done ok considering the pace of Bale. Sold himself once leading to his yellow. 6

Turner - excellent defending, woeful distribution. Has read play brilliantly and won a lot of headers but even when he has a lot of time on the ball he resorts to hoofing it no where. 7

Bramble - solidish, difficult when Van Der Vaart is moving around the pitch so much. 6

Ferdinand - injured early so no score. Bardsley - struggling down that side with Bentley and Hutton seeing plenty of the ball, needs more support. 5

Henderson - very poor, game passing him by. Has given the ball away far too much and still not getting into space. Also ball watched after originally closing Van Der Vaart down from the short corner. 5

Riveros - either doing the ugly stuff quietly or doing nothing at all, has given the ball away a couple of times by not showing any ambition to pass the ball forward. 5

Cattermole - why does he insist on rushing in so much so it's easy to bypass him? Reasonable first half defensively, needs to get on the ball more and start to exert more influence on our midfield. 6

Zenden - always looking to get on the ball but not getting very far with it, and despite running back a lot is leaving the wing wide open for Hutton and Bentley to run the game. 6

Richardson - playing far too deep for a support striker, got forward once to support Gyan and shot from about 100 yards!!! Needs to be more positive with his positioning on the pitch. 6

Gyan - no support whatsoever, throwing himself around but it's not sticking with him. Needs help. 6
