Steve Bruce has dismissed reports linking Lee Cattermole with a move away from Sunderland and stated that he is not available at any price.

The 22-year-old has been the subject of speculation since the start of the year, with Liverpool consistently touted as possible suitors for the combative midfielder.

Cattermole has seen his star rise under Bruce after leaving Middlesbrough for Wigan in 2008, following his manager to the Stadium of Light in 2009 and delivering a string of impressive performances.

With new Reds boss Roy Hodgson currently overseeing some transition in the squad, Cattermole has been seen as a successor to by Javier Mascherano should he leave Anfield.

Bruce however has already lost Cattermole's midfield partner Lorik Cana after a shock exit to Galatasaray for £5million, and insisted that he is not about to lose one of his key players.

"I don't know anything about that, and I have absolutely no intention of letting Lee leave this club - none whatsoever."

Radio last night was saying he was going to Liverpool.

Wasn't it Brucey himself that said every player has a price.
I'd imagine we'd want considerably more than £10 million, more like £25m to sell him.

If Man Utd are prepared to sell Ronaldo when the moneys on the table Cattermole will be away if we recieve the right offer no matter what Bruce says.

I'm sure Bruce is full aware of that. Wigan ( Whelan ) operate the same way, as do most clubs. Why would/should we expect to be different.

If that were the case Bruce is a bit silly being so emphatic about not allowing him to leave.
People are reading to much into this. The bottom line is we hold all the cards on this matter. He's on a long contract at a club with no financial worries. Liverpool conversely have major financial worries with no major new owner on the horizon.
They have to sell before they can afford the likes of cattermole. With their interest bill and no CL football I doubt they'll be freeing up too much of the proceeds for any sales.
As Moyes did with both Rooney and Lescott, and MoN is doing with Milner, if the players are going to leave they do so for silly money only.
Bottom line is most of the emanating rumours are 100% bollocks.
    Talk of <10m is silly.
