    Default Oyster cards for dummies…

Off to London tomorrow for a few days. Trying to make heads & tails of the London Transport website explaining oyster cards… are they the cheapest & simplest way to get round London? And if I read it correct I can pick one up from kings cross tomorrow morning?

Just go to the ticket office and pay £3 for one and put whatever money you need to on it.

as explained.. turn up.. hand over £20 and say oyster pay as you go mate..

you'll get a card and £17 credit which shoudl see you through.

you can top up with a coupel fo quid if you want.

when you leave london you can hand it back for your £3 or keep it for next time..

you'll be charged each time you use it up to a maximum of a one day travelcard...

Yes. Basically it's a pay as you go card, and per journey it's loads cheaper than using paper tickets.

You pay a £3 deposit which you can either get back, or just keep the card till you come to London again. The queues at KX can be a bit daft, but there’s a machine on the wall which will dispense a card with £2 credit if you have 5 x £1 coins.

You can use them on buses too.

I've got mine linked to my credit card as well so you don't even have to bother topping it up. Just wave it over the gates and forget about out it.
