    Default Best SLR Camera.

I know there are a fair few on here who know a thing or two about cameras. Im looking at buying an SLR soon and was wondering which would be the best to buy? I've been thinking one of the canon ones. Possibly 450d? but thought Id see what the wise old smb could come up with.

    cheers in advance

If you're looking at an entry level camera like the 450D the bst thing to do is to go to a ccamera shop, try the 450D, the Nikon equivalent (D40?) and whatever else they have around the same price.

Buy whichever one feels "right" for you.

Bear in mind though that you're not just buying a camera - you're buying into a particular manufacturer's products - as you'll almost certainly want to replace or supplement your kit lens pretty quickly. When you come to upgrade or replace your camera then what you buy will be determined by the lenses you own.

Most of the cameras are pretty similar nowadays in terms of features - it's the glass that makes the difference. So unless there's a single particular feature you're looking for, as I said, try them and buy what feels right.

i know two people with Pentax P20D's - qwolty kit with excellent results. I've been looking at the Cannon EOS500D but can't as yet justify forking out all the money for a pucker DSLR. Sticking with the Fuji Finepix i use for my gallery for the time being...

i'm looking into buying an Olympus e-420, the smallest D-SLR available at the minute but decent quality none the less.

My main digital camera now is a 50D which is much chunckier and far more comfortable to hold. I also have an EOS 3 35mm camera that's the same size as the 50D.

That's the reason I recommended holding them in the shop and buying the one that feels right.
I was a bit worried about it not feeling comfortable but i'm looking to take it snowboarding for a couple of months next year so really need it to be as small as possible. I'll probably even get the pancake lens to go with it otherwise i could do some damage on one of my many falls.

Isn't the 50d really really expensive? around 900 quid? I think ill pick up the Canon 450d eso one. Seems best in that kind of region. Not the best but not the worst. And plenty of lenses to choose from. Seems the most popular.

Just need to find the cheapest place. I won't buy it here in Sweden. Will cost me around 7000kr. So over 550 quid at least. probs more. Cheapest ive seen it with the lense is around 500 quid on amazon. If anyone knows a cheaper place let me know as im poor.
