I've got myself some skinfold calipers and taken measurements from 4 sites to give me a fat of 19.9% which isn't bad I suppose but do I need to measure wrist or leg size to get a more accurate measurement?

The best way is to look in the mirror.

Calipers or BF scales are okay for a guide but inaccurate.

If it's really important then you can pay for a DEXA scan which is like an x-ray but very accurate so I'm told or a Hydrostatic tank which is equally costly.

Personally I use BF scales and the mirror.

How accurate can a set of (decent) bathroom scales measure body fat? I'm not particularly interested in a accurate reading at the minute. I'm only really interested in looking in the mirror and seeing my body fat get lower as I start a 8 week cut. Just I set up my scales yesterday to read body fat and it seemed a bit on the high when comparing my body to pics available on the Internet

Not very, they're OK and seeing the numbers go the right way though

I have some and the body fat measurement does fluctuate over the day as does weight.

If use the scales first thing in the morning, after going to the toilet. I find that gives the most accurate result and I can monitor it going down.

Further to my last post, I'm hoping someone can advise me further. Either I have a better impression of my body than is realistic or my scales are way, way out when it comes to measuring BF.

3 weeks ago I weighed 171lbs with 24% BF. I now weigh 164lbs with 22.4% BF. Whilst I'm happy that the lbs are dropping at my desired speed the BF isn't. Is there any correlation between lbs and BF %?

It is my intention to lose weight for 8 weeks before going into a calorie surplus and adding muscle. In 8 weeks I was hoping to lose 16lbs (which I am on course to do) to take me to pretty much bang on 11st.

The only reason I am getting hung up on BF % is because when reading up online there are people who recommend cutting down to 12% body fat or less before adding mass, mainly to keep a lean look at all times when bulking and cutting.

Going off my stats so far I can't see me being 12% BF at 11st and I don't particularly want to continue losing weight beyond the 8 weeks I've already set myself.

Soz for the long post :D

what about your weights? Have they gone up?

Slightly. Im keeping track of a few key lifts and they've all gone up. I'm not particularly concentrating on that during this 8 week diet though. This 8 weeks is purely to lose weight/body fat. I will be concentrating on getting stronger when I begin eating a calorie surplus.
