FM 16

Hadn't been on FM in a while so went back to FM15 and decided to have a crack with Wolves, see if I could seal back to back promotions after back to back relegations. I haven't really used the 4-4-2 formation on Football Manager since about FM 2010 so I thought I'd give it a go with Wolves. The result was a staggering record breaking season as we ended up with 109 points, breaking Reading's record of 106 set in 2005/06. We ended up 27 points clear of second placed Norwich and to be honest I reckon if it wasn't for a series of crippling injuries in the new year we could have gone the season unbeaten.

The only player I signed was left winger Martyn Woolford from Millwall for just over £1m. He contributed 10 goals and 20 assists during a fantastic campaign.

The biggest surprise was Kevin Doyle, when I first took over at Wolves and saw Doyle in the squad I was underwhelmed, especially when I seen he was earning £34k per week, 13% of our entire wage budget. I wanted to bomb him out but he ended up scoring 34 goals despite spending about six weeks out injured. I ended up offering him a new deal on reduced terms which he accepted and I'm liking the look of this squad ahead of the new Premier League season, I don't reckon we need to sign many players at all. I need a new right back and probably a new central midfielder but apart from that I think most of these players can hold their own, especially the centre back pairing of Danny Batth and Richard Stearman who are both disgustingly overrated on this game.

Think I'll stick with this 4-4-2 and see how it goes, we beat both West Brom and Everton in the FA Cup this year with my current tactic. The latter was an amazing Kevin Doyle inspired 3-0 success at Goodison.

4-4-2 was unreal on FM15. Played counter and early crosses with burnley. Won the league with Ings (golden boot winner) and some inter Milan reserve called Delgado (CM but played him upfront). Developed the team and bought good players after so they were unstoppable.

Eh @SAFC Wilks

4-4-2 works decent on this years anarl like but not as OP

Finished in 8th place with Wolves in our first season in the Premier League. Not hard to mould a decent squad quickly with the TV money.

same as my burnley save ended up winning the fa cup Europa leage and league cup fast European championship with Portugal as well I have had over 350 games so quite far on just can never crack winning the prem yet

We improved to finish 6th in the Premier League in season three, sadly it wasn't enough to secure Europa League football however. Danny Batth is now the only surving player left over from the start of the game. Our current first XI:

GK - Baumann

RB - Peruzzi
CB - Sule
CB - Batth
LB - Robertson

RM - Zaha
CM - Hughes
CM - Geis
LM - Piazon

ST - Ings
St - Afobe

The next task for us to try and force our way into the top four as soon as possible and end the club's wait for a major trophy. I've badgered the owner into expanding the capacity of Molineux, sadly however its only going up to 35,000 from 30,000. I was hoping we'd be playing in front of crowds of 40,000+ by the time we kick off season five.

I've had plenty of job offers from clubs ranging from Bournemouth to Arsenal but I'm in it with Wolves for the long haul. I want to build a Stan Cullis style dynasty here.

Any recommendations for full backs? I ideally want one RB and one LB who are CWB's and better than Jones/Yedlin and PVA, I'm not far from Janurary now and I'm sat 9th first season with the lads.

Cheers!
Cyrus Christie,Robertson,

Afobes class but kept getting injured for me. 2nd most injury prone player ive ever signed with Jese being first. Hows he for you?

Very injury prone too.

Another year of improvement. We ended up finishing 3rd to secure an automatic Champions League spot for next season. We were struggling a little up until about November so I reverted to my preferred 4-1-2-3 formation and it worked a treat as we ended up pushing Liverpool right to the wire before we faltered a little in the last few games and allowed Chelsea to pip us to second.

We also lost on penalties to Liverpool in the FA Cup semi final. Definitely a season of "what ifs?" this one. The squad is incredibly strong, I'm going to try and throw all of my transfer budget at a world class central midfielder and then I think we'll be ready to finally win a trophy in season 5.

Started a new save with the lads as my last one was on my old laptop and kept getting blue screen.

First save with the lads since the winter window update. So firstly, any tactical tips would be appreciated.
Sorting out staff as well, got a couple that I'm going to approach but if anyone has any suggestions it's appreciated

Finally, anyone else tried signing RWB Mayke from Cruzeiro? Always seems to go to Chelsea on prev saves and is great for assists so might try and get in early

This didn't start great...Drew 1-1 with Chelsea and was 1-0 up within 3 minutes :eek:
Then got trounced 0-4 by City

So because Uncle Ellis is as tight as a rabbit's arse, I've had to scour about for free agents and take loads of them on trial.
Found a young Portuguese lad called Fereira who has great potential so got him signed up, the rest are just squad fillers.
Started a link with Hibs and sent 8 youth players (Greenwood, Honeyman, Beadling etc.) on loan to them for a bit experience and sending a few of the recently signed trialists so they don't twist about game time.
Mamana went to Real and managed to get him on loan (The mags also in for him  must have stepped aside)

Try playing on the counter with Sunderland, that's what I do until I manage to get a squad good enough to play the way I want to play.

Did against both of them mate, set up with 3 in Midfield against Chelsea then - because City play with a No.10 - played with Catts (Jan was injured) in the CDM role with Yann & Seb in front

Trial and error I reckon.
This no funds business is f***ing crippling me like. Wafer thin squad, youth players aren't good enough to compete this season and can't sign anyone - even loans are hard as everyone wants the wages covering and ridiculous amounts in monthly fees

Managed to get Tiago Ilori from Liverpool on loan and got a deal agreed for Jesse Lingard from United but need to get shot of someone to cover loan fee

Finished season 5 in 2nd place, miles behind champions Arsenal but we are still making year on year improvements. A consistent goalscorer is a must for next season. Neither Danny Ings or Benik Afobe really impressed me during this campaign. We finished 3rd in our Champions League group but went on to win the EURO Cup with a 2-1 victory over Man Utd in the final. We also made it to the FA Cup final but were outclassed 3-0 by Chelsea at Wembley, still, at least we've finally nabbed a piece of silverware!

We spent last season at the Ricoh Arena whilst Molinuex was expanded to hold 45,000. Still not big enough for my liking though! Not sure if it is even possible to expand it anymore, might request the board build a new ground in the next few years.

Cyrus Christies better mate

Aye but Robertson is my vice captain, loves the club and that. There's an element of not chopping and changing for the sake of it that keeps teams successful.

My next left back will be a French regen called Juan Carlos Bacoul. Made 5 appearances for me last season as an 18 year old scoring once and getting about 3 assists. Out on loan at Bordeaux this season and is their first choice. They play the same system as me as well where the full backs have next to no defensive responsibility so it's perfect.

I don't take any notice of the best position indicator I play Robertson who I rotate with caner Erkin on one side and Christie and Matthews on the other as complete wing backs they put unreal crosses in

6th in Championship with Wigan in my 3rd season in game. Sacked from Sunderland during 1st season. Took over Wigan who were in League 1 and got them promoted. Finished mid table last season and looking to get promoted this season, just beat the mags 4-1. Mind were in league 1 with Pardew in charge of us!!
Ive just took on the Switzerland job aswell as the Wigan job. New consortium have took over Wigan, given me nee money and are looking to replace me, the twats.
