I have been doing yoga stretches for the itb for the past few days, hard work but my legs feel ok after doing them

I went out Saturday an did 15mile at normal training pace 8min miles, and im still not right today, just done 6 mile at 8.40 pace as I feel like I have been stripped of all energy there is just nothing left in the tank

That's making me feel better, I did 6 on Sunday and then 3 tonight, that 3 tonight was the worst run I've done in ages, really really hurt.

It's crazy what not taking the right amount of rest time does to us, I have been using heart monitor for runs and yesterday's jog again at 8.40 pace my heart rate was up like I was doing a flat out 5k

I've just been out to do a short session before the L50 this week and I'm chomping at the bit, can't wait to get started! It might all blow up in my face of course but it won't be for lack of preparation (for once) and determination

Should have dropped the pace a bit on Saturday, even if you don't feel it at the time the heat takes it out of you & you take longer to recover. I did a long slow run on Sunday morning that should have been well within my distance & pace capabilities but even dropping the pace by 10s/mile I had to cut it short at 13 miles then last night I was struggling to maintain 8:40 pace.

Done 18.34 at temple park 5k tonight, a good pb for me, last mile I died a slow death after 2 sub 6 minutes mile, leaves me thinking there is still another 30seconds our so left in my legs over the 5k distance, happy with a pb tonight onwards and upwards we go

Hi, I'm after a bit of advice, I'm doing the gnr, training is going quite well so far but the balls if my feet are starting to ache a bit after longer runs. I've had my running shoes a few years now so suspect they may be coming to the end of their useful life. I used to get shin splints so got my gait checked and they recommended the trainers I now have which are Asics gel cumulus 13 which have been excellent, so I'm after something basically with the same cushioning and support.
Can any one recommend any shoes or a website that I can look on to compare. Cheers

try wiggle. new shoes should help but cumulus are fairly neutral support shoe so you can go for others too without impacting your gait. good luck.

Anyone on here do the Lakeland 50/100 over the weekend?
I managed the Lakeland 50 in 11 hours 7 minutes and can honestly say its the best running experience I have ever had, a quite unbelievable weekend.

Aye mate I did and a couple of others I think...I wasn't anywhere near as quick as you mind, 14:05 for me but absolutely delighted and loved the weekend as a whole :)

You lads are f***ing crazy:eek::eek::eek:

I'd love to do runs of that distance, it must be a hell of a feeling of achievement.

Pal of mine finished joint first in a 100k Ultra a few weeks ago - you boys are an inspiration ;)

Great work mate, agreed was a brilliant weekend

I'll be back next year in some capacity, one of the races or marshal duties...the way I'm feeling it'll probably be the kid's 1k on the Friday night though

You can do it as well mate, definitely nothing special about me, you've just got to want it enough and put the training in that's all

And aye it's the best feeling in the world when you finish
