Morgan (c), Hales, Roy, Root, Buttler, Stokes, Ali, Jordan, Rashid, Willey, Topley, Finn, Vince, Billings, Dawson.

Liam Dawson in ahead of Chris Woakes due to Lions performances.

I don't agree with the squad personally, would have had Bairstow and Plunkett in for Vince and Jordan, but what do I know.

Actually think its a bit harsh on Woakes, he isn't bad at the short stuff, he is certainly better than Jordan.

A bit of a surprise but with the tournament being in India they've obviously decided to go with an extra spinner.
Jordan on the other hand, I can't believe he's in the squad. Once your in this team it must be nigh on impossible to be dropped or is he being selected on the strength of his fielding alone? I suppose he'll be a great 12th man.
Anyway our group looks really strong, we're going to have to play well just to qualify for the knock out stages.

Cannon fodder seam attack with the exception of Finn. Plunkett should be in for Jordan. Dawson another bits and pieces player ahead of the specialist left armer Parry, typical England

I agree with all of that.

The bowling always gets overlooked, say we fail to chase down a 20/20 total, its always the batting that gets slated, he isn't good enough etc, why isn't he in the squad etc. When in fact we are often chasing too much.

Totally relying on Finn being fit, if Wood and Plunkett were near fitness they had to be in.

I'm not even sure Topley and Willey get in the team at the same time, probably go for Willey ahead of him, more experienced.

what has wood done to deserve a call up

Jordan is going to get picked for the next five years on the back of that super over.!

Agree. Parry is one of the best T20 spinners I have seen, totally stagnated/derailed our innings when we played them.

Not convinced he is a white ball cricketer.

Woakes seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth after his ignominious test performances. Shame as he was OK in white ball.

It's a strange one, we've been desperate over the years for some variety in our seam attack, then we go with two left armers who are very similar! The selectors obviously don't know what variety means. Now our problem seems to be too many bowlers who are a similar pace.
Maybe we should of had a look at Mills at least he's a little different to what we have in the squad.

and injury prone so we have an off spinner, left arm spinner, leg spinner, left arm fast bowler, right arm fast bowler your always going to have a couple that are similar why is this only mentioned when it is 2 left arm options

Surprised we haven't put Luke Wright in there. Hasn't always cut it at international level but think he gives you something different

Picking Chris Jordan is an absolute disgrace. Now we only have one quick bowler there.

Plunkett was our best bowler in the UAE, Jordan was our worst.Unless plunketts injury is so bad he should be there. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...most_wickets_career.html?id=10307;type=series

It seems woakes has been dropped from the ODI side and the world cup squad because of his test peformances. That is ridiculous, he should be there ahead of Jordan too.

As far as Dawson goes. We probably won't play parry whose not been great in the main, Dawson was the top wicket taker on the Lions tour.

It just seems strange to me after years of having right arm quick's opening the bowling for us we wanted some variety with a left armer, then we choose two who are very similar.
Anyway if Finn stays fit our bowling looks decent. Hopefully Rashid hits form as I think he could be our most important bowler, taking wickets in the middle overs on Indian pitches.

Well hopefully Jordan doesn't play, relying too much on Finns pace. Would have been happier with plunkett in there too, hopefully the below is the team.

Hales
Roy
Root
Morgan
Buttler
Stokes
Ali
Willey
Rashid
Finn
Topley

Yeah, that's the side I go for as well.
Do you think when we knew Plunkett and Wood were going to be out we should of had a look at someone like Tymal Mill?. A bit of a wild card but would certainly of added some pace and a different dimension to our attack.

Thats who i'd pick with Root as a 6th bowler option

As I said weeks ago that vince/wright were the option for the extra bat. But as Vince peformed in the UAE he was always going to be selected.

There already is 6, he'd be a 7th option.

Wood was absolutely fantastic in his one international 20/20

Him and mustn't be fit, as we literally have no replacement for Finn.

Luke Wright has had plenty of chances, and he isn't really good enough at that level

He has scored some runs playing in these franchise leagues, but this standard isn't the same as international level

Do we really think Root, Stokes, Roy, Buttler etc wouldn't score a hatful of runs in big bash and the pakistan league, course they would.

Jordan getting picked is my only issue. His bowling borders on embarrassing at times for international cricket. He seems to be getting picked purely on his fielding.

And that f***ing super over int he UAE, we all said at the time it was the worst thing to happen!

Think the problem is Plunkett and Wood obviously gonna be out injured. They don't wanna pick broad for white ball cricket.

So that leaves Jordan and Woakes. Obviously they reckon Jordan is better, yet it's only his fielding thats any good.

Can't believe Wright isn't picked ! bonkers decision if you are going on form.
