Having an issue with my 10 year old sons xbox one and have ran out of ideas on how to solve it.

On Friday night he was online playing minecraft. A friend of a friend has reported him for no apparent reason and he's panicked and changed his gamertag. Since then he's only been able to play two games on his console. All others won't either load from disc or load fifa16 from the hard-drive of the console. I've tried everything thats listed online from the forums and nothing seems to fix it. He can log onto xbox live fine and there's no errors on his Microsoft account.

Anyone had anything similar and knows a fix?? Cheers.

No mate, it's still the same one that we setup for him at xmas. All he did was change his gamertag. He can play need for speed and lego jarrasic world fine.
FIFA16 (download version), Forza 5 & 6, star wars (all disc) get to the initial load screen, then go straight back to xbox one menu.

strange one i've never encountered before but it shouldn't have locked you out for changing the tag as the license is linked to the tag which is stored in the console, I don't know if you have tried this but try a hard reset of the console, i had a booting issue when i played Dead Rising 3 where after a few mins i was knocked back to the dashboard.

To fix localized Xbox One Xbox Live sign-in problems or games not starting (aka games hanging on the title screen), perform a full reboot of your system, also known as a powercycle or Full Reboot, cold restart or hard reset.

To perform a hard restart, hold the power button for 10 seconds while the system is on. The system will turn off. When you hit the button again, it will start and display the green start-up screen. All your data is preserved, but cache is cleared and some settings are reverted and log-in or game start issues are resolved.

Alternatively, you can perform a full shutdown by going to SETTINGS > POWER & STARTUP and change POWER MODE from Instant-On to Energy-saving. After changing the setting, choose "Turn Xbox off". It can be powered back on by holding down the GUIDE button on the Xbox controller or the button on the front of the Xbox console. Once it's back online you can go back to SETTINGS > POWER & STARTUP and re-enable Instant-on.

If the manual button/menu-initiated reboot doesn't work, do it the old-fashioned way: power down the Xbox One, unplug it, wait for 10 seconds, plug everything back in and power it back on

give that a try and see if it works, it did for me with DR3

I have had that issue a couple of times, I just switch it off as I don't use it often. I normally put it down to the fact that the server is shit, had untold problems with it over December.

I don't think changing the gamertag would make a difference, it's surely the same account..

I don't think one report would ban him either.

If all else fails, bite the bullet and ring Microsoft, I've had to do it before and the bloke was spot on!

I'll try and do the hard reset again when I get in tonight before I ring microsoft. I would have thought if the console was completely goosed, then no games would work at all which is why I'm slightly puzzled. If I had to do a factory reset as a last resort would he lose the FIFA16 that is downloaded?

Yes, but you can just download again. You pay for the license and can download and subsequently delete titles you've paid for as often as you like

Cheers for the advice. I rang Microsoft last night and went through a few things, none of which worked. It took a factory reset to sort it out after an hour on the phone.
