This......

Although I may be tempted to swap New Hope to No.1

I like the way it stands alone as a film, and your first is normally your best

New Hope set it all up so I went through a similar though process, but I liked Hoth and also it's hard to beat Luke finding out who his Dad is

The Icy wastes of Hoth, the muddy swamplands of dagobah, the betrayal on Bespin, Han in carbon, Luke's amputation at the hand :)rolleyes:) of his newly found father. It's possibly the best of the trilogy but still stirs bleak and dark memories from an 8 year old Sneech.

I always think return of the Jedi is underrated because of the Ewoks. The first part, Jabba's Palace and the Sail Barge with all the weird and wonderful creatures, culminating in Boba Fetts dive into the Sarlacc Pit being probably my favourite part of all the films.

Where to begin with the prequels - It's just the work of a man with nobody around to tell him it's not very good. Prioritising selling toys over story, awful awful dialogue, over-reliance on green screen CGI which has already dated horribly, Jar Jar f***ing Binks, and frankly the story was boring. You could edit the entire trilogy into two two hour films and have something decent if you took out all the trade negotiation midichlorian politics crap. The lad playing Anakin is a halfwit in episode one, a creepy teenage monotone dullard in two and a creepy mid twenties monotone dullard in three. In amongst it there are some good set-pieces - Obi-Wan & Qui-Gonn v Maul, Obi-Wan v Jango Fett, Yoda v Dooku, Mace Motherfucking Windu v Palpatine, but the bad stuff is just so cringeworthy and leaden it drags it all down.

The new one, though - it just looks right in a way none of the prequels ever did. Clearly put together by someone who understands why the original trilogy worked.
