Hi folks

Mr Windows 95 needs some help again. I've recently bought a 'gaming' pc but quickly realised it was nothing of the sort and have had a new psu and 750 ti graphics card installed.

I've been looking at fallout 4 and the spec says it needs
  • Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent.
The machine I bought has an amd 7650 3.8 quad core processor.

Is this enough to play this game????

Cheers

Is the one I've got decent enough.

I used to be really pc savvy but I can't believe how much it has changed
Should be alright it's an apu you have with an onboard gpu. I've ran battlefield and stuff on similar chips so should be ok. Could go out and get a 860k for £50 which is a much better chip

And will fit right in the board you have

There's two "engines" inside of a computer.. one is the CPU which traditionally did all of the normal calculations and a GPU which is designed for just graphics. In recent years this distinction has been muddied.

Can you post full and complete specs?

If you're using Integrated graphics, here's the scores:

Passmark GPU Benchmarks
Radeon R7 A8-7650K Radeon R7, 10 Compute Cores 4C+ - 800
NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti 2GB -1924
AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or equivalent - 4271

If you've got no external GPU, it looks like you're knacked. The AMD's IG are nowhere near the minimum specs.
However you might be able to play the game, but on very low settings / frame rates.

(On a side note it's interesting that the recommended minimum specs requires an AMD GPU that is more than twice as powerful as the nVidia counterpart)

Think I might be fcked as no mention of GPU:

ADMI GAMING PC PACKAGE: Powerful Desktop Computer, 21.5 Inch 1080p Monitor, Keyboard & Mouse Set (AMD Kaveri A8-7650K 3.8GHz Radeon R7 Quad Core APU Processor, USB 3.0, 500W PSU, 1TB Hard Drive, 8GB RAM, 24 x DVDRW Drive, Wifi, Pre-Installed with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium Operating System) - Free

Yes it looks like it's using Integrated Graphics, which means the GPU is inside the CPU which are much less powerful than a separate graphics card.
The game will still run, it will just look like poop and low framerate.
They should be shot for naming that a Gaming Package tbh.
The good news is you can buy a separate graphics card and just hoy it in for not much money if you look around and get a good second hand deal. I found my nephew a dual 7850 card for around £55 on eBay a few months ago for example.

You'll also want to take advantage of the free upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 as soon as possible as it only for the first year when Windows 10 was released.

I should have added I did buy a graphics card - it was a 750ti but not sure what GPU it has. I asked about it on another thread as I needed a cable for it but you recommended I update the PSU...which I did (well GHI did)

Aye that is a rather salient bit of information you omitted

Graphics Card is a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).. both the same thing.

The GeForce GTX 750 Ti scores 3688, which should be enough to play on low to medium settings.

GHI.. You a Hebburn/Jarra lad?

"GPU?? - I see why people go for consoles now!!"
If you got a complete system from a trusted company like say Dell or Alienware like you would a console from Sony or Microsoft you'd not have to worry about any of the technical stuff.
Just with a PC you have a choice to upgrade it yourself which inherently makes things more complicated. As does "random eBay or Amazon seller"

South Shields lad but used to live in Hebburn and have always used ghi for my computer stuff.

Thanks for all your help mate. At least with my new PSU I should hopefully be able to upgrade graphics card in future
