ecb introduced new laws starting next season for all men and woman to wear helmets at all levels. This includes fielding in close up to 8 yards from bat and keepers standing up.
Good law u think.
Will take some getting used to for lads who never wear em.
I play filthy standard and nearly lost my eye. Top edged it.if it's at all levels then I think it's a disgrace it always should be a personal choice and at a lot of local levels there is no need for them. As an adult and player I'm responsible for my safety let me choose what I should wear and not be dictated too!
As someone who nearly lost an eye top edging against filth, yes it's a good rule
I've been hit in the head before and ive seen others get cuts it doesn't put me off so why should I not have the choice anyone who doesn't wear a helmet knows the risks involved.I play filthy standard and nearly lost my eye. Top edged it.
Its hardly a disgrace
You get used to it.I've been hit in the head before and ive seen others get cuts it doesn't put me off so why should I not have the choice anyone who doesn't wear a helmet knows the risks involved.
Should all fielders wear helmets as they might get hit, umpires, wicketkeepers. At a time when cricket is struggling the last thing we need is rules like this putting people off.
I'm not against helmets I have worn them very occasionally, it's definitely harder due to never having to wear them as a junior but I should have the choice.
I've never seen anyone at local level hit in the head through good bowling. It slways seems to be a top edge into the face trying to slog shiteI wore a helmet once when I was 12 year old and never since. I played in a game last year when walking to the crease and opponents said ''you sure you dont want to wear a helmet?'' due to bowler I was facing, however I know the risks and willing to risk my good looks. Feels like I cant see a thing through the grill.
Me neither, however I once thought about wearing a helmet last year when I seen a certain Mr Bright steaming in during a friendly.I've never seen anyone at local level hit in the head through good bowling. It slways seems to be a top edge into the face trying to slog shite
