Does anyone else do this?
I suspect this is going to sound a bit nerdy, but I've got a spreadsheet for gym activity.

In a way I think it's motivating me to do more while helping me keep track of what I've done.
At the moment, I'm trying to make sure I burn at least 500 calories and run/bike/cross trainer over 10km per session

I'm doing weight machines too but that's more to break up the cardio. That said, it seems to be taking effect - aside from shoulder press. Apparently I have fuck all in my shoulders. Bit odd but there you go.

I'd imagine a good chunk of people on here do mate.

The amount of time and effort I've put in to designing spreadsheets and that is truly sad

I've got a Garmin watch for running and it uploads to Garmin Connect and Strava. I keep a track of stats on there to see how I'm doing.

That's cool. I should really run outside when it's summer etc, but I had no motivation at all.
Aside from the obvious.

That said, I've lost over a half a stone since the beginning of September so I'm not doing too badly

Most people taking it seriously will track their progress. sets, reps, weight, even notes on how hard a set was or lift was etc'.

I even leave myself helpful technical notes like "More leg drive you twat."

I write down everything I do ie excercise, weight and reps and maybe make a note whether I need to up or drop (lol) the weight next time.

If i didnt do this Id forget what weight to use and this way I can track my progress and make sure I am getting stronger.

Does your spread sheet do all the calculations etc for ya?

Not much to calculate but I do totals for distance, calories and time for each workout and at the bottom I have a total calories, distance and I divide it by the amount of times I've been to the gym.
That's about it really!

Not sure what to do with the weights one

The weights one you could just set it up do it auto calculates weights and reps each time etc

I think it's pretty important if you're interested in lifting more, otherwise not so much for your average person who likes to train and has a good routine they like.

At the very least you should know or record your reply maxes just so you can be happy when you beat them.

I might actually throw up a free training log template (for resistance training) next week for anybody interested. Would be slightly condensed from what I give my clients, but provides some good info.

Just starting the stronglifts again. Can only make gym once a week, circuits and a 2 or 3 run sessions. Had a year off gym and the weight i can now lift has dropped dramatically. Need to commit again but i just dont like the gym any tips??

Get some weights and do it at home

Accept that you need to train regularly in order to progress? If it's something you care about you'll make time for it. If it's not then it makes no odds if you're not that good at it.
