Magnificent John O'Shea - reasons to be optomistic

Fair play to JOS especially as he was the only recognised member of Ireland's back 4.

But don't forget how bad a run of form he went on after the last time Ireland played Germany. Yes it was his 100th cap and yes he scored in the last minute but I think he must have gone on a 4 day bender after that as his club form was appalling for weeks thereafter. Massive thing for him if Ireland get to the finals and it certainly will be a distraction at best for him re his club form.

Don't wanna spooky things but this time last year he scored a last minute equaliser against Germany than took part in the 8-0 defeat again Southampton.

Honestly not trying to say he is brilliant but I was down there and not one of them was any good.

One of the few good value signings we have made in recent years, even though he was written off at the time for his age.

He'll still cost us more games through shite mistakes and poor defending.
As you know like you I'm not be really a fan but we do look much better with him in the team, though I still think he looks far more solid and up for it with Ireland, he seems to go through the motions a lot of the time with us, just my opinion!

He is good when we are playing low sitting back using midfield like a shield... problems start when we do not do that. And when we do that (Gus) we are not good enough to keep the ball passing it out or creating chances... been true for ages.

Like Cattermole and many others on here ' son of satan' one week ' never want to see him in a Sunderland strip to 'decent player' doesn't let us down very often the next ???
