Running Thread 2015

Looks excellent, don't think I'll do the league as will probably do Nottingham again and that clashes with the Penshaw half.

Will the Washington trail be the same route as this year?

Yes, Washington trail and Penshaw races will be the same as previous years. :)

Kielder marathon - 3:43
well run mate, tough route also...
had chance to do the 10k on Saturday but already had match ticket and also don't really want to do races in other peoples names anymore, the only decent time I got in a half marathon was in my mates name.
jess fox (sunderland harrier) won the ladies 10k, fantastic result for her, long may it continue

Never realised, she's a junior too? Class running.

Got myself a spot at London next year... that'll give me something to focus on after this weekend's marathon.

Having a very gentle week this week of just keeping the legs turning over with some parkrun volunteering on Saturday too.

Cheers mate, loved it. Knocked 15 minutes off last years time. Not bad going considering I was hungover! Walked all the steep inclines.

Aye Alreet mate, no need to show off ;). I did 4:35 or something last year and 4:25 a few years before that and was in bits at the end. Both times I did it my legs went at around 18 miles on the dam.

Does anyone have any info on the Sunderland strollers 35 mile race on 7th November? Fancy doing it but there's not much info on the course. It'll also mean I miss a match which atm isn't a bad thing.

What's the route like? It says south of Sunderland but not much more.
starts and finishes at ashbrooke sports ground. Through the parks to the river mouth then follows the river to the back of Penshaw. Up over monument and through Herrington park / woods. from there on trails to Houghton, under a690 following the burn to burdon. From there its up towards Murton, Dalton le Dale, Hawthorn Dene, Noses point, Seaham prom and beach, following the cliff tops back to Ryhope. Along old railway line to Tunstall hill, upto trig point then back to Ashbrooke - a hair under 35 miles in total. Interesting route with a bit of everything.

Cheers. Think I might do it like. After the torture of St Oswald's Way, well the last 25 miles anyway a nice brisk 35 seems like a decent day out.

Been stuck in early shift so just been ticking over last few weeks with 3-4 miles here and there.

Dragged myself out for 3.5 mile tonight and was surprised how I went considering how tired I am. Managed 8.29 a mile. Hoping to get a bigger run in on Sunday morning. Never raced for a while so looking forward to gibside next Sunday. Is it a muddy one or will normal trainers suffice?
