Running Thread 2015

Got my final 'big' run in last night until the GNR. Went out intending on 10 but did 11 in the end. Slower pace than my target but feel confident of pulling that out on the day.

What are people's plans entering the final weekend?? I know people are different etc, I have in mind just 2 or 3 faster 5/6 miles runs before next Sunday. Want to try and keep 'fresh'...

Only planning one 5 miler on Sunday to blow away the cobwebs from a stag do to magaluf tomorrow!

20 miles on monday evening followed by two days rest. Went out for a 7 mile slow jog this evening and the legs are still feeling heavy. Was planning a long one on Sunday but might cut it back based on how I feel at the moment. Have done three 20 miles runs in 7 days so some rest is well earned! Looking forward to some freshness coming back into the legs and only 2 weeks of real training before easing back pre marathon. Just need to stay fit and healthy...

Went out yesterday for my last 5 mile before the GNR. 2.5 miles into it I pulled up with my calf. Tried some stretches and ran a bit more but it went to tight and painful, I had to stop. It was raining by the , so I rang the missus for a lift home.

I'm gutted as this really throws the GNR in doubt. 100% rest for me, and I might see if I can get a ohysio session somewhere. Any one got any tips To get me ready?

That should say physio above, but Im buggered if I can get the cursor to move back on an iPad. I wonder if those who think they are wonderful have ever typed anything more than 4 word facebook posts.....

Treat yourself to a foam roller. You can get decent ones fairly cheap in Fat Mike's Tat Emporium or even Argos. Loads of vidoes on youtube etc on what to do with them.

I twisted my knee last Monday playing football with the young'un and thought I was going to miss the GNR, I took some rest and everything has turned out ok, have yourself a little rest and keep the stretches going and hopefully everything turns out ok for you.

Went down castle eden dene for the first time in a while today for 6.3 mile. Forgot just how tough it can be down there. Some long killer slopes. Day off tomorrow before I take part in our (Run Peterlee) inaugural 5k race on Sunday. Hopefully all goes to plan

Sorry to here about your calf - hopefully the advice given will give you a good shot at next week.

I can offer help with your ipad issue though :) I get the same and its bloody annoying. Whenever you are in a post and want to go back like you said, you need to remove the keypad first. Tap the bottom right hand key on the keypad which shows a mini keypad and arrow. Then click where you want to go back to. This is the only workaround I know and wish you could just click anywhere straight away. Let me know if this works for you...

I've decided to pull out of the Washington 10K tomorrow. I'm absolutely gutted as I was looking forward to it

Still full of snot and got a hacking cough and think it would be silly to try and run it. Probably best to try and get myself well again for next weekend.

Don't be too hasty. The day before the Pier to Pier I had to stop on the parkrun & felt absolutely dreadful. I went the next day anyway & deliberately dropped my pace right down but took money for a taxi back to my car just in case I couldn't get round but I finished & thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I'll see how I feel in the morning but I don't feel hopeful. My chest feels tight and my arms and legs ache and feel so heavy as well as the cold symptoms. It was a major effort hanging the washing out this morning, never mind running!
