anyone used any?

free one 'recuva' finds nowt sadly

tried a few paid ones and they find around 110 tiffs of about the right size, though don't allow any preview as the files sizes are too big (ffs).

i think i'd pay the 30 dollars or so, but i have no way of telling if i'm getting what i want, only around 20 shots iirc

Mac or proper computer?

Actually these utilities are available for both
Managed to preview the tiffs now using rescue pro, and they are just tiff versions of the first 100 or so images I shot on the card, pleased I didn't pay

Had a look at those yesterday rodge, but it was all weirdness on the mac . May try a pc version

Fuck knows where these shots are. Didn't use the card after they vanished so I assumed they'd be quite easy to ressurrect

Hopefully just directory corruption and then the photo util can scan the card to find them.

If the card is still responding and not totally dead I would think your chances are fairly good as you haven't written anything else to it.

I'd have thought so but am finding nowt on testdisk, recuva and also rescue pro

My own fault as I think I forgot to format the card and just started using it. Mind there were 561 shots on it and many deletions before it has screwed up

I guess it'll be some directory screw up, but no idea why nothing can be found, must be heavily corrupted

I've basically lost 10 shots of the same thing, and not the greatest so not the end of the world, but it annoys me to lose anything

Did you do a normal scan or deep scan with Recuva?
Tried the lot now

Ok, finally found the files with 'Filerecovery' , first software that has spotted them

The tech bloke there reckoned they were deleted files, due to the alteration of the filename. He wanted 70 usd for the software. Not bothering as they wouldn't show any thumbnail, hence I could be paying 70 dollars for corrupted files

Not sure why any other software won't find them, but if anyone else has any (free) suggestions?

Did you try photorec or just testdisk from the link I shared?
Both aye, neither found these 'deleted' files

Strange as you'd think deleted files were the easiest type of missing file to find?

Yep, absolute doddle with FAT filesystem as nothing is deleted apart from a character of the filename. It's all still there until you write something else over the top.

Weird

All I can think of is that IIQ files are unusual, and most software cannot spot them

But then testdisk found the non-deleted IIQ files on the card

And the file format has been around quite a few years now
