LVCC D1: Durham v Hampshire

I'm done with Richardson for this season. Not good enough. Mustard has scored more runs in the Royal London than Richardson in 4day cricket. Or it certainly seems that way.

Absolute piss pull how fragile our top order is.

Stoneman has been superb in limited over cricket this season but he hss looked might average in this format.

Burnham has been batting 4 or 5 for the 2nds so hows the poor lad been thrust into first team cricket facing the new ball? Its ridiculous.

One of the senior players or Mustard should have stepped up.

Rotten stuff, got laughed at when I mentioned relegation 6 weeks ago. We are going to be a kick in the arse off it.

As did I mate, been saying from about 9 games gone that we still needed 1 more win to be sure, we're still waiting for that win. So I assure you, I wasn't laughing, quite the opposite.

good lord, I have wanted Mustard back for weeks, Richardson is just not cracked up to it

I also not sure why they have totally given up on Jennings, he was having a bad year but he can grind it out at the top of the order, specially when the options are Clark and a kid

Muddled thinking by Durham

f***ing tripe this Durham batting. Like watching Roseberry, Longley, Morris, Bainbridge & co.

Needs to be addressed.

Well, if they haven't yet had one (if not, what the fuck have they been doing?) it's time for an inquiry into this batting, if they have already had some, then they must be sick to f***ing death of talking about it - because our batting is an absolute f***ing disgrace. 19 batting points from a possible 70. We are a joke. Whether it's individuals, coaches or the folk that pick the team it's disgusting - like Einstein said: Insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results.

Thank The Lord for Rushworth and Onions is all I can say.

Stoneman is still in with a decent chance of 1,000 runs for the season, so it's tough to criticise but it's either feast or famine with him, more so famine recently.

The second opener slot is a massive worry and one which the club MUST address this winter, more than any other. Burnham has been thrust into the position and it's not fair on the lad at all that he's basically been thrown into the lions den with no armour whatsoever to help him. He should've been able to continue at 4/5 to develop his game further.

Borthwick can take no blame, nor can Muchall for that matter - it's no secret I've never been his greatest fan and I have to be honest - if I was in charge he'd have been bombed years ago. However, if the lad doesn't get a contract extension it's a travesty, he's consistently outperformed all other batsman this season, the stats back this up, he's more deserving of a place in the lineup that most at present and if the likes of Jennings and Richardson remain and he goes it'll be a disgrace.

Richardson is garbage, or atleast he has been this season, it's clear to me he's nowhere near good enough to bat 5. If he's to retain the gloves then he should bat no higher than 7. For Trent Bridge I'd be up for bringing Mustard back in his place. He needs removing from the firing line IMO.

Another defeat will be confirmed tomorrow and we're running out of games in which to save ourselves. We're going to be relying on other teams to beat Hampshire and Worcestershire I'm afraid. The folk who laughed at the talk of relegation weeks ago must really be feeling like twats now.

It's a bleak time for Durham and if we can somehow avoid the drop Harker needs to get his abacus out and find some funds for squad strengthening.

Other than Pringle I don't think any of them have progressed this season. Rocky's and Borthwick you could argue have stood still. Muchalls made his usual contribution. Colly, Mustard, Jennings, Richardson have all failed to impress/gone backwards. Hastings started well, but his battngs got worse as the seasons gone on.

Agree with this. Not sure why, perhaps players have got complacent. It's remarkable what a contrast the first 8 games were to the last 6.

Just back and warmed up. Very dissapointing day really. Thought our bowlers stuck at their task really well, was frustrating to see the last wicket partnership of 30 odd though, but no criticism of the bowlers they are giving it everything.

Batting very poor as it was yesterday. Bloke sat with me who is a regular home & away "mark my words, Stoneman will set off in 1 day mode and then give his wicket away getting carried away", absolutely spot on, it was a pathetic dismissal. Burnham as mentioned, I think we are having major issues with finding an opener, wouldnt be at all shocked to see Mustard opening next week we just don't seem to have any clue who can open. Pleasing though to see Burnham introduced to first class cricket, one to watch for sure.

Borthwick threw his wicket away, good catch but you just expected wickets to tumble, nobody at the ground seemed shocked we were 3 down by the time we got level. Richardson frustrating but I'm a fan of his, but can understand folk are frustrated with him, fair comments all round.

Collingwood dug in, was plumb LBW.

Muchall batted as he did in the 1st innings, well done.

Pringle digging in and showing a lot of quality in many aspects with the bat in county cricket. A major plus with the bat in what has been a very poor season for the team with batting.

A lead of 88 with 4 wickets remaining, we somehow need to at least double that and who knows what may happen. Overall though it's awfully dissapointing. Baltic cold but it seems CLS had the best of the region weather today.

so I didn't praise him after he got 99

quick look, i don't think you actually have.

Ironic thing is, Richardson got a good score in the 1 day game then was dropped :)

Agree about Stoneman in the 4 day stuff.

Its like someone pointed out, is the magical 1,000 runs in the county championship so great when you divide the innings up it averages about 27...?! Stoneman is averaging 32 this season....

Richardson has close to 800 runs afaik having checked which I'm struggling to believe as he hasn't had a decent knock for months. About 3 years ago I thought he could go on to be a top class (international) wicketkeeper batsman but he just hasn't kicked on.
