There are rumours circulating around the British powerlifting community that @Titus put 40 chicken nuggets in a blender and downed it

In all seriousness, if that's Onj taking it easy I'd hate to see him take it seriously!

 Onj picked me up at 7am and after we'd had some breakfast, I didn't eat again until after third flight squats, so I was starving. I think I should probably have got 60 given the length of the day, but 40 was better than nothing.

Yeah, he was hoping to make the 100s, but it was going to happen. Given it was his first meet and he had an injured elbow and lat (meaning no deadlifts for the past 6 weeks), he did superb. Del was there and said he'll be a force. Jenkinson v Del v Onj is going to be very interesting.

My training partner seems to think his prep for the GBPF nationals is going well.

He's 83kg, 18 years old and on Sunday he did:

202.5kg x 3 squat.
130kg x 3 bench.
240kg x 3 deadlift.

Not actually sure where that stacks up in his class/federation but it seems to be pretty good.

Very impressive

Dialling it in for worlds now.

Was like a mother's meeting last night. Somebody got kicked out and barred for 'having a generally shit attitude' the previous day and everyone was discussing whether they thought he was a dick or a nice lad. The consensus was he has mood swings and can be a real c*nt when he's in a bad mood.

I'd only spoken to the person twice, little more than spotting each other, but I thought he was ok, if a little self important to the point of arrogance.

Dave would have no members left if he did that

Notable lifts this week:

250 x 3 dead
290 x 1 squat (day after deads)
160 x 2 paused bench

Watching the Boss of Bosses 2 buildup has made me want to compete there next year. Ran it by a few of the others and they're up for it too

Malanichev 470kg squat. New unequipped record.

Have to say I'd have red lighted him for depth from that front angle. Although from the side it may have looked better.

You'd have red lighted that?

The side angle is better, but even from the front I thought it was clearly in. The bloke just has thighs well in excess of 30"

He didn't get anywhere near hitting depth.

Mark Bell put a load of vids on his twitter if anyone is interested in seeing highlights of the comp.

I've only seen the front angle but I agree with him mate, it looks far too high. Have you got a link to the side angle?

Seen a few floating around on Instagram and Facebook. Hashtag his name and I'm sure there'll be a few. I thought 470 was deeper than his 450, which I would have probably red lighted

Having now seen a still of it I take back my initial comment.

Can't believe Dan Green got beat anarl.

Hamilton is a fantastic lifter, but what amazed me was how comfortable all of his attempts seemed.

Not sure what was up with Green. Possibly the weight cut or stress of putting on the event, who knows. Wasn't his usual self though.

Mark Bell has a podcast with George Leeman coming soon I think as well. Would be cool if Tessa Urbank (George's lass and Vince Urbank's sister, a ludicrously strong woman) was in on it as well like as I've enjoyed her YouTube channel since it started.

I've backed off a little bit weight wise as I felt a lot of what I had been doing had been too close to the edge rate of perceived exertion wise. Particularly on bench, I think regularly failing lifts at around the 105-110kg mark wasn't doing me any favours.

On Sunday I hit the following working sets wise:

180kg x 3 paused squats (pausing needs to form the bulk of my work currently as I really struggle out of the hole).

3 sets of 100kg x2 bench, followed by 2 x 10 at 80kg. My work here needs to be thinking about more drive off the chest. People observing me are essentially saying I'm currently benching without generating all the power I could be. All of these sets were with competition calls, even the x 10 ones.

200kg x 3 deadlift. Expected more on this, by at least 2-3 reps but just had nothing left. Which was weird as my last warm up at 190kg flew up like it was nothing and I had a good 5 minute rest.

Good session today. 200kg x 5 high bar squat in just a belt, 140kg x 4 paused bench with rested on a box to remove let drive and just speed work at 180kg for deads (no more heavy deads before comp)
