Need more British Asians playing the game, will be some talent in there
Earlier on in the season I went too see the DCB U14s play yorkshire U14s (B) at burnopfield. I dont think that there was 1 Asian lad in the whole side. If there was it as just one. My lad went for trials at yorkshire a couple of years ago at headingley (and was asked back). Out of the lads who went for trials, about 30 lads on that course, i think there were maybe 2 or 3 Asian lads.

i've asked the question before about why they dont turn up in greater numbers at yorkshire and got no answer.

I always found them a decent enough set of lads to be honest. When you had a chat with them in the bar they came across as a progressive club, really keen to develop. Their ground was pretty open and bare, but they did develop some nets, and the wicket was always rock hard when I played there.

Had some cracking players over the years too. You always knew what you got from Mirza. Sohail was an excellent player, think he went on to pro at Philli? Uniyal was a top pro, played a lot of IPL and was very handy with bat and ball. Also don't forget they developed Kumar who had a couple of seasons with Durham. They did have some excellent local lads too who really improved over the years. Not seen them for a few years now mind so not sure what state the club is in these days.

Aye it was alright until you played against them all in the same team in a second team cup tie

medical Always enjoy playing the Asian teams down here. Good lads, love the game and without sounding too stereotyped what they lack in ale provision, they more than make up for in their curry selection

As for the question posted above I can't provide an explanation either. The theory goes that persuing a career in sport is looked down upon as too risky and parents prefer their kids to go into more financially sound professions. Medical stuff or accounting and law
