Last call for anyone wishing to join in the Bank Holiday Fun. Places are available in the Sunderland Team on all three days giving some oldies a well deserved rest .....

Well the competition has started.

First game of the day was the hosts Nowton CC Vs The Elephants which the hosts comfortably won. We were next up against Goatham from Nottingham, the new boys and favourites. After 10 overs they were 117 -0, then the wickets started tumbling and they only ended up with 186. Having borrowed a couple of youths from Nowton we had two quick wickets (thanks Trigger, an umpire who lives up to his nickn

Nowton CC next up - KO 11 O'clock .......

You're not wrong - haven't a clue what went wrong there .......

Anyway here's what happened, Our Captain working well with debutante tourist tore into them taking six wickets between them. We then batted .

Trigger lived up to his nickname when we batted and after losing two quick wickets our captain and a certain Nowton youth destroyed their bowling comfortably scoring 67 an 65 not outs to reach 187 with a few balls spare! Gerrin.

Next up were a youthful host team and once again Trigger struck helping us to restrict them to 136. Skipper again very influential with wickets and a not out score. This time ably assisted by a SMB poster who shall remain anonymous, unless he wishes to be forthcoming? An opening spell taking two wickets in his first over, he followed up with a 30 odd not out.

Gotham beat the Elephants comprehensively setting up the final day. However, it is pissing down and we may end up losing it all in a bowl off .... time will tell ....

How was the wedding @Twisted ?

Really good aye. Looked proper smart having acquired my clobber from an Oxfam in Sunderland for £15. Bait was great, lots of free booze and i wasn't the most pissed there. Lots of drunken injuries as standard, bride & groom very happy. Got a lift back as far as Gravesend then £10 train, home safe and sound.

Now that's what you call a canny wedding ......... more pissed than you? Yeah ........ whatever ........;)

Well, no play yesterday, not even a bowl off as the rain started lashing down. So a gentleman's handshake and Sunderland ended up all round winners of the competition. Our skipper was man of the competition, deservedly so too .....

a great weekend and already looking forward to next years event as defending champions .....

A good time had by all!

Wish I hadn't bothered rushing back home ....... 168 for 7 with Pringle doing all the right stuff while Hastings anchors the innings ....... still a long way off a batting point .....
