Running Thread 2015

I'm aiming for average 9 minute miles to make it round in 2 hours, but find I hit nearly 8 minute miles early on, and slow down to 10 minutes over the course of 10 mile. Its leaving me about 10 minutes adrift of my target time over the course of a half marathon. I got 2:13 last year and was gutted with myself.

Yeah, I seem to always crash somewhere just after 10 miles even if I stick to my planned pace right up to that point. I've never figured out how to get over it & keep slipping over the 2 hour mark. I was hoping this year would be different as I've probably had my longest run without injuries ever & I've improved my 5k, 10k & 10 mile times as well but that extra 2.5 to 3 miles at a decent pace still eludes me.

Great session with Harriers tonight, running round the Quayside :D. Sought advice from one of the coaches about my sore hip... Apparently I need a sports massage, am not looking forward to the pain already :confused:

Cheers, a measley 19:05 which is crap compared to rat! Pleased with the run but disappointed not to get sub 19.
is it a pb mate ? you will def go under 19mins soon , just be patient , your capable of sub18 this time next year if stay injury free and consistent training with the group you're training with mate.
I'm surprised none of your older lads (T.A, G.R) are not in the North East Masters (NEMAA), as they could be winning fair few medals, much better runners than some I see bragging on FB about their medals :D

19:00 is my pb, shields park run.

G r? I don't think they bother, but yes, I agree. Think it costs extra.

Well, I thought I'd got a 10 Mile PB last night only to find that the course was about ½ a mile short :( . Extrapolating the average pace over the full 10 miles I'd have been about 2 minutes over but that was over a much flatter course so still quite pleased.

17 miles on Sunday, Monday off, 20 miles Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday off, twenty miles today.

Slow parkrun tomorrow then another long run sunday. Legs feel good, will probably do a hard long run next weekend then that's the hardest part of the marathon training over.

When's your marathon ? Hoping for a fast one ?

I done steady 8 mile this morning round Easington and peterlee. Tough slog in the wind. Off down London for a few days tomorrow and taking my running shoes down just incase I fancy a bit running tourism. Stopping near kings cross so going to see if anywhere round there worth having a trot round

Pop across to Regent's Park and do a lap or two, it'll be full of runners. Enjoy yersel

Just googled it actually and looks to be 1.5 mile from where I sm stopping. If I can get up early one day think I will have a jog along for a lap or two before the streets are to busy
Planning your running routes in advance for a trip away . . sure sign of a running addiction rob :)

I do it too, really pisses the mrs off
