We still do a lot better than most counties in the country
I think it comes down to expectations, the county title the other year was a miracle with the squad we have, Colly should be knighted for engineering that, which was fantastic to back up with Lords last year. Not saying I am not desperate to challenge for these honours, but I think we have performed above expectations recently. It is difficult to keep that up
A few counties are desperate for a keeper batsman, Sussex, Somerset the main ones. I personally think Mustard is still an assett in white ball cricket & feel with a few more knocks we could see him back in the four day team.
Onions looks all at sea however. I'm still shocked we will be letting Muchall go but giving Graham Clark a years deal but there we go.
I'd like to see Mustard given ago at the top of the order in the 4 day stuff. It might not work, but when you have a limited budget, and a player who has been a quality performer for most of his time at the county, don't just give up on him easily.
I feel is loyalty and service warrants another go in the side, even if doesn't work out.
I also agree about Muchall and Clark. We know he isn't a world beater, but I feel he can contribute more than Clark in all 3 formats and is still a decent age and very cheap
You say that but Stoneman and Borthwick have once again shown to be 2 of the most consistent bats in the division. Colly started well, and Muchall has scored 2 great 100s, I guess it is just putting it all together as a unit that has been the issue.
