Clearly the British have been massively influential on popular music and I was wondering about the best albums that our musicians have produced.

I'll put this one up as a first.

Elton John - Captain Fantastic, particularly this track which again is immense:

Some memories from listening to this track again.

The Clash - London Calling. Best track is Rudie Can't Fail or Clampdown.

The Kinks' Village Green album is an under appreciated masterpiece. Didn't even chart in the UK. Best tracks are Animal Farm and Picture Book.

Soul II Soul club classics vol 1
Revolver
Human League Dare
Led Zep 4
Black Sabbath
Priest British Steel
Iron Maiden Killers
Script For A Jesters Tear

Rudie is one of my favourite Clash tracks, lyrically and musically brilliant.

The Specials - The Specials

Massive Attack - Blue Lines.

Brilliant album and their 'sound' was prevalent in popular music for a few years at least.

Vaguely remember one of those stadium bands jumped on their bandwagon, might have been U2?
