Think congerton found us a gem here
More likely dik , I'm not so sure about congers up to now ,
Hannover have struggled as much as us over the last couple of seasons and pre season to but we did look a lot better (couldn't look much worse mind )

One of the best away trips I've ever experienced. Absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. Drinking on the terraces, away end was almost self-policed. 1 steward per stairway with a key to unlock seats which were locked in the upright position as default. Any fans sat could still see even if the entire stand in front were standing because of how the rail seats and the away end in general was built. Non-stopping chant, away end decked in flags and banners.. for a f***ing friendly. the concourse area was open-plan at the top of the stand with fans allowed to stand and watch the game from there.

Train to Hannover was first-class standard throughout the train, Sunderland took over a carriage on the 10:52 and despite the chanting and drinking nobody seemed offended or irritated with most the Germans either using their common sense and moving carriages without a hint of hassle or just going about their lives without bothering. Train conductor was cheerful and welcoming despite the fact we were clearly going to be loud and boisterous. Left the train and wandered through Hannover station where we were greeted by the Polizei who welcomed us to Hannover and give us advice on pubs. Told us our meeting place was obviously the Waterloo judging by numbers already there but said it was a Hannover "home" pub and to avoid it but we insisted we wanted to meet the locals and have a drink so he said we're welcome to head there. True to the copper's word, the Waterloo was rammed. Flags covering every wall, tree, fence, sign and anything else up a height.

Bumped into Ellis Short outside in the Maschseefest. Got a quick photo but he was insisting that his wife hates him right now because he's stopping every 2 minutes to chat and interact with Sunderland fans. Described the penalty as "total bullshit" in his broad texan accent and then moved on.
