He's not half as bad as people make out. Seems to handle pace better than Lyth.

He looks scared shitless against Johnson and Starc and has more edges than a broken pisspot. Good fielder, but he's a waste of a batting slot as things stand.
Carberry faced more balls than anyone in that series down under.

What gets me is if broad, finn or wood were injured and not Anderson they would say Rushworth is too similar to Anderson to get picked....yet now that Anderson is injured they go for out and out pace or an enforcer similar or at least not much different to broad, finn and wood!?

The selectors and cricket in general is obsessed with pace at the moment. If Anderson was only just coming on the scene, no way would he get a game IMO.

They are clearly worried about Rushworths pace, rightly or wrongly. And whilst there is some merit in that, was Brett Lee a better bowler than McGrath? Shoaib better than Hadlee?

The selectors want shot and sacked. Bayliss won't have ever seen rushy bowl. We need a bowler to replace our swinging bowler, so we bring in a half fit plunkett(a known quantity)who is the same type of bowler broad and Finn.
Fair enough having a look at footitt mind, but apart from the left arm factor I don't see him being too dissimilar to Finn and broad also.
I expected wood to play anyway but rushy deserved a chance.
