It's getting really old how anyone on here that shows concern or in any way criticises the club or doesn't believe what they say gets called a fanny or bed wetter. Those people just sound like they accept mediocrity. What's the point in being in this league if your happy to plod on year in year out?

If we had bought 2 quality players every year since being in the prem we'd have a decent squad now. How many players have come in and sucked money out of this club and done fuck all? It's a complete miracle were still in the league with these clowns that make the decisions. Not saying I'd do any better but then again I don't have to I'm not in that position just like I'm not a politician but doesn't stop me criticising them.

If we had bought 2 quality players every year since being in the prem we'd have a decent squad now. How many players have come in and sucked money out of this club and done fuck all? For a salary of £250k plus I'd be working 90 hours a week to make sure it did f***ing work instead of repeating mistakes and making false promises.

I think its proving harder than expected to bring in genuine quality for a club like us. We aren't the most fashionable club in the country At this stage anyway. Maybe when other sides start bringing more players in and shifting others on later in August, that might change. Looking at the other 8-10 teams that will finish around us, there seems to be a number of other clubs in the same boat.

I'm not going to start worry about it with so much time left in the window, and I'm certainly not going to worry because we have lost a friendly
 
And when we don't even score what you gonna say then, 'cos this excuse about friendlies being all about fitness is absolute shite, how come all other teams want to win and we aren't bothered, are we that good ? Are we bollocks, basically the same shit team that scraped up last season and the season before and if we expect any of those so called strikers to come good we are kidding ourselves !

Maybe it is but people need to earn their coin. We are paying professionals a lot of money to sell the club and schmooze players into playing for our club.

However if I was a player, I'd struggle to take our ambition seriously. Where's the sign of intent? What has changed from this season since last?

Nothing. That side we fielded tonight is nothing short of disrespectful to the fans.

Think that is a bit harsh on the club mind. Theres none of us who know what the club has or hasn't done over the summer. We could have made several enquiries for quality players that have came to nothing. I obviously don't know whether we have or not but I'd be surprised if we haven't made any at all.

I still personally think we are 4 players short of what I'd like to see us have by the end of the window but whether we are able to get them or not I doubt it would be down to the club just not thinking they are needed.

I'm positive we will see another face or 2 before the season ends though. There's still reports we are after a CM, and today further reports saying we are also looking for a striker. Whether who we get in is option A, B, C or D though, remains to be seen

We've given them the benefit of the doubt for long enough. At present, nothing has changed.

We fielded the same side tonight that played at the back end of last season bar Lens.

The Leicester match is one week away and we're as average now as we were last season.

Matthews, Kaboul and Coates are very average signings. No one has a clue about Lens, he could be quality or he could make a Giaccherini type impact.

It's about time the club pulled their finger out and showed some ambition. Repay the fans for their loyalty instead of continuously serving up absolute shit.

and some of here like the way Congerton is going about his business? different manager same problems. I do however, think Lens, Coates and Kaboul will prove to be good signings although I am not sure why we signed Matthews given priorities should be given to a forward and a creative midfield player

Because I don't think the staff at the club have just been sitting on their hands all summer doing nothing
 
We clearly need another 2 additions to the squad of the same calibre as Lens. Rodwell needs to compete for his space and should be on the bench, Fletcher should be gone. Any players watching the way we have played will not want to come here.

Fletcher has moments of class, . . . But I genuinely think he and a few others think that they are 'above' us. That they are better than the club and the 'scummy/working class/jovial/whatever' people of Sunderland and therefore only put a real shift in when they feel like it. Which doesn't seem to be very often. Guess we will have to wait and see how the season unfolds and how the players and Advocaat will respond.

We don't know what will happen in ten days. Hopefully it will all come good. All we have to judge is from what has happened before....and the idea of players such as Fletcher Graham Bridcutt Buckley Brown and Rodwell being in the squad for the first game of the season doesn't fill me with glee. Imagine for a moment Catts gets injured/red carded first game and Larsson reverts to the form of 15 months ago. Ouch
