Seen this exact question so many times. Just shows how people say things every day that they simple don't understand.

It's unreal how many people can't do it!

People say stuff all the time, just repeating what they've heard - without any idea what it means.

"Brand new" springs to mind. I hear "bran new" all the time. Clearly not understanding what it means

Aye but "miles per hour" explains it itself!

That's exactly my point.
People say things that they've heard. They are not saying "miles. per. hour." They are repeating what they've heard "milesperhour", which they don't understand and is meaningless to them.

Anyone know what a 'shed load' means ?? I used yo think it meant lots, because that's how much you can fit in a shed. It actually means a load that has been shed, I.e spilt or dropped from a cargo vehicle .

There you go

The last bit man, creased here!

1st bloke - "From your's to town, it's 7 miles"

2nd bloke - "Say if I was to jog 7 miles at 7 miles an hour, to get to town at 7 miles an hour, would take me about.........2 hours"

also the "how far is 5 miles from my house?" comment!

Like that person on here that wrote 'Pre-Madonna' which I suspect is how a lot of people think about the term 'Prima Donna'.
