Running Thread 2015



Right here's the dilemma, doing the GNR in a little over 2 months and to be honest im in not good shape, was hoping to have my fitness levels right up by now after embarking on a fitness crusade in March, which fell at the 1st hurdle as I then got 3 months work in US, and didnt keep it up, anyway I done the Park Run yesterday which was a struggle so thats an indication of my fitness levels, so should I now try & get out for some sort of run every day or go 3 or 4 times a week & progressively build up the distance, or something else?
 
Entered the Washington 10K trail and it came up that I'll be a V40 as it's after my birthday. Was gutted :(

Best of luck to everyone running in the Gateshead 10K this morning. Just hung the washing out and it's warm out there already. Drink plenty of water!


Hope u enjoy washy i'm undecided on weather to enter. Think there are a few in same week or so. Is warm in gateshead but no warmer than the last week so anyone who runs regular should b ok. Fast course this one. Gotta get round quick as car park shuts early :eek:
 
Just seen someone running it dressed in a plastic Storm Trooper costume :eek:

He's in the wave behind me. If I get overtaken by a Storm Trooper I think I will cry :lol:

He was parked next to me on Bede school field. Saw you pulling in there but decided that distracting a driver in a crowded car park wasn't the best idea so I didn't shout or wave.

Saw him going the other way when I was nearly back to the Swing Bridge so he didn't catch me :lol:

Ran it in 1 hour 7 minutes. Really pleased with that and I ran all the way up that horrible hill just before 9K. Could hardly walk at the top but I did it :D

Ran past the photographer doing 5 in a row hand signs and he was grinning like mad. I think he was one of us :lol:

Thought so. I was the fat lad in the stroller top shouted on way back. You'll been 4k in I was bout 5.5 and goin other direction. Decent running for that time. Wad by the way :D:eek::oops:

I never heard you shout sorry :oops: I think I was too busy concentrating on getting to the water station at that point as I was thirsty!

Cant blame u for that. Wsd knackered til I got water. Didn't think heat would get to me but I over hydrated before start. 2nd half was easier I thought. Spent more time lookin for her in doors at finish than it took to do half of run as she sat in wrong area for meeting. Pleased u were happy with time and hopefully it'll only improve as the year goes on :)

My past PB was 1 hour 10 mins over a year ago. I was really poorly last year and I'm still not 100% well yet. I only started running again March this year, so that's why I am so pleased with my time :D

Drank plenty water yesterday and had an isotonic before bed last night. Had 2 mugs of coffee with breakfast at 7am then a pint of water before I left home. Drank a bottle of water in the starting pen but I was still gasping by the time we got to the water station!

Its tough gettin back into it. Been back since April after knacking my back at gibside last October. Hot day doesnt help. Glad to hear your feelin better though. U should b flying by end of the summer.
