Does your employer drug test?

I work for carlsberg as a drayman its quite bizarre really the older employees are drinkers and never get tested but the younger newer staff are always getting tested fairly regular for drugs especially on a monday fair few are sacked each month

I remember having to take a drug test for a part time call centre job when I was at Uni about 15 years ago, needless to say a few of the others on the training/probation period didn't make it through.

Always wondered why they did it though as surely a good percentage of their FT staff would have been on all sorts on a weekend and they never tested thereafter.

It's the only place I've known to demand you piss in a cup.
Dunno but looking at some of the decisions made it should be mandatory for anyone at our place above chargehand level. Gross missuse of substances is obviously the only reason for the way the place is managed!!!!

I've been tested 3 times.
I was also Ops Manager and had to resist loads of pressure to test the lads, only did it when I really had to.
It was like fishing for tuna - you always caught a dolphin

Drugs and alcohol, often just before before boarding a charter flight. Sneaky buggers once drove me to a different medical centre two days after the first test and did them again.

Our place does if you have an accident. You are took off line until the toxicoligist comes and tests you. A couple have been caught out and sacked over it and a few agency lads have walked out rather than being tested.

yes regular

What does with cause mean?

If there is a reason to suspect you are over the limit (which is half the normal drink drive limit) or have drugs in your body. The suspicion could come from a tip off from a colleague or a member of the public you have dealt with think you are and making a complaint about it

Heard nowt like it.

Me neither. Mind, if I went for a job interview and I was told drug tests were compulsory then I would turn down the job.

What I consume (alcohol and marijuana mainly) in my free time is none of my employers business. It is my human right to get stoned out of my tree now and then.

Saying that, I can understand drug and alcohol testing in a role where it is crucial to have a clear head (such as operating machinery, air flight control etc).
