only started to take effect about 930 but imo they were excellent.

will be a cracking atmosphere for a full house, england match, but tonights match had a pretty good buzz about it

The lights can be the best in the world, it is our climate which is the problem and nothing anybody can do about it. Day/night cricket in this country is being forced through for the benefit of people to watch on their televisions not for people who actually go the the matches.

True but Durham wouldn't survive with 5k turning up, Sky funds most of the counties

Yes but sky want international cricket the county stuff they show is just a stocking filler. If they lost the contract to cover England they probably would not bother with county cricket the expense of actually televising a county match would outweigh the amount of subscribers they would have paying to watch county cricket to a massive extent.
Personally i don't have a problem with them trying day/night cricket but there is a lot of rubbish talked about the reasons for it in this country.

Strangely I didn't feel the cold at all on the members balcony, fleece under a big jacket must have helped :), lights were brilliant once they took effect, God knows who's paying the electric bill like seems to me that they weren't required for 90% of the time they were on, maybe we could replace the bulbs with heat lamps to keep the spectators warm?

Tariff for electric bill will be low. Sorted through a NE company called Sanctus. Know the owner well.

took the bairn and had a cracking night; amusing that the countdown to the start got to something like 25 seconds before the heavens opened! We all enjoyed it and would probably go back for the T20 again, so the floodlights have possibly earned Durham 4 more fans

Well the late start time last night benefited me and a couple of other lads who went because we cannot make the 5pm starts due to work.

We will definitley be going back and I'm sure we will get warmer nights, its not always that cold.

exactly! I just live up the road so we could have tea then head down; a 5:30 start means one hell of a rush

When that damn jet stream gets a move on we will be laughing. Lovely summer nights under the floodlights watching cricket, perfect.

At the very worst the winter coat gets more use.
