Thats fair enough, then.
He might even be secretly a little relieved he wasn't asked.

Sure if it's offered anyone anyone who's making their career as a professional coach would have to take it, but it would mean a lot of travel and he has a young family that he'd surely want to be around and he'd have to drop his Big Bash contract ..... Yorkshire+BBL coaching is a good start but he'd need more to get the big national jobs I would have thought.

Thats fair enough, then.
It was reported that Gillespie said he would take he job if offered, didn't seem to be 'if certain conditions are met' like advocaat. I think England (strauss) spoke to Gillespie and bayliss and decided to go for the latter. As mentioned bayliss has a pedigree in international cricket and won a variety of one day competitions. As far as I know (putting my head on the block here) Gillespie has only managed Yorkshire and whilst he's done a good job they have such a strong squad you wonder how good a job he's had to do.
