It was reported that Gillespie said he would take he job if offered, didn't seem to be 'if certain conditions are met' like advocaat. I think England (strauss) spoke to Gillespie and bayliss and decided to go for the latter. As mentioned bayliss has a pedigree in international cricket and won a variety of one day competitions. As far as I know (putting my head on the block here) Gillespie has only managed Yorkshire and whilst he's done a good job they have such a strong squad you wonder how good a job he's had to do.Thats fair enough, then.
