First time I've been at that speed for anything over 5k. Its also my first race so not getting ahead of myself with times.Should be looking to get under 40 if you are running that on a training run mate

I reckon trail and hilly.Has anyone ever done the Keswick Mountain Festival 25k trail run? Doing it on May 17 and unsure what the route is like.
well done yesterday dan , how did you find the run ?I reckon trail and hilly.

Cheers mate, being doing quite a bit round Penshaw etc but no idea what to expect. I even went up to Keswick last week and ran 12 miles around the lake but it did not seem quite hilly enough but the terrain is a killer on the legs.If it's anyhting like the Derwentwater 15K its hilly, boggy and kills the knees on the return to Keswick.
London marathon 3:17:39, 26.5 miles on my Garmin!well done yesterday dan , how did you find the run ?

Such a great day, loved it. Stopped 3 times for a little walk but I expected too as never got the long runs in. Crowds were awesome.
Great stuff. I was glued to the race, for possibly the first time ever. Probably another sign of how much I'm getting into running. I was extrapolating my time's from 10 and 15ks and decided my aim for a marathon would probably be 3hrs20-30mins, however that may be very ambitious. My half marathon aim is about 1hr40mins.
5k this morning in just over 21 mins. I think I'm going to start alternating 5, 10 and 15k runs. If there's any particular advice on this that would be great.
The reason for the 5ks is as I mentioned up-thread I've found myself struggling a bit with match fitness in football, and I think the shorter quicker runs will stand me in good stead than constantly running 10-15k. I have 6side tonight too so it made sense just to do 5k this morning.[/QUOTE
From my experiance I could not mix football and running due to niggling injuries I kept getting on the football pitch, running 5 k will only help a little as football is just sharp quick sprints, maybe try some 400 fast 400 slow upto 90 percent effort for the football fitness side
Outstanding, well done !London marathon 3:17:39, 26.5 miles on my Garmin!

These last few pages have people all over the place in regards to their current fitness! People doing pb marathons, yourself getting physio, others getting 6k in for the first time in a while etc...Back at the physio today and a return trip Thursday. Making progress but seems like most of me was or is broken in some way.
Running about to restart though and I think the main learning for me is to incorporate more strength and stretching work into my normal weekly schedule, certainly beyond a quick warm up.
you may surprise yourself, just don't set off too fast and blow up half way round. couple of banks in the route also so its not as flat as the half marathon course , then the last mile go eyeballs out..First time I've been at that speed for anything over 5k. Its also my first race so not getting ahead of myself with times.
well done mate, especially as you had fair few niggles leading up to it.Well done mate, I done 3h 25. Pleased with that as my training was no where near that pace on long runs so had serious doubts if I could do it on the day to beat 3h 30. The atmosphere all the way round was unbelievable to be honest, wall of sound round every corner, doubt I'll do another run where that will be beaten. My garmin clocked 26.9miles!! I had quite a bit dodging to do in first 6 miles mind to get where I wanted to be then settled down. Said that was my last marathon but might try again for it!! ha
great stuff dan, some of your lot posted some excellent times, yours included , never fancied a marathon mainly due to the time consuming training and the probable weight loss with all that mileage, but its got me thinking now...London marathon 3:17:39, 26.5 miles on my Garmin!
