Skipping - Bloody hell

If anyone is looking at getting some I would advise buying leather skipping ropes rather than any other material such as plastic. They are more hard wearing and also better for exercising with.
Isn't the clue in the word skipping ROPE? Why is leather better for exercising with? Surely it is the act of skipping that is good for you not the material you are skipping with?

The thread is titled skipping - rope isn't part of the debate and surely just refers to the form rather than the material itself. I agree that the exercise itself is good but some leather skips are more hard wearing as I have said - they are also heavier and therefore better for skipping than say the main other plastic type of skips that can get tangled and misformed.

I have both leather and the plastic type myself but the former is better by far in my opinion.

The form of skipping rope that is actually comprised of 'rope' I haven't actually seen since Primary school in the play-yard. Such a rope isn't available to buy through any sports/fitness retailers I have seen. You could possibly buy some in a toy shop.

If you want a cheap/free alternative or to see if you want to buy a specialist type of skipping rope you could use a cut piece of rope if you have it.

I have a skipping rope and it's made from rope.

Been able to keep it up, try to do 20m each day at least and have seen a massive improvement in my fitness like. Can even do the crossover now, showing off
