1st Test: West Indies v England

I heard a bit of Michael Vaughan in the car on radio 4. He wasn't impressed with Cook's filed placings. He had a man on the fence for the spinners basically saving runs with about 15 overs left.

Tredders, 40 overs, 1 wicket. Root, 13 overs, 2 wickets.

We need to improve in all aspects of our bowling prior to the ashes.

Both Moores and Cook are cautious, no arguments, however that pitch today was doing absolutely nothing. I don't think Jordan is good enough at Test level on any pitch. On days like that you need a world class spinner in the team, maybe the likes of Tahir, Ashwin Narine of Ajmaal, somebody with a bit of an X factor. Unfortunately the cupboard is bare......it's not exactly brimming in the fast bowling department either like....

Listen to how he says it man. Bitter as fuck

Not sure where your getting this from

130 overs to bowl out West Indies, is more then enough regardless what the wicket is like. Not good enough in my opinion

Concurred. Fair play to Holder and that but Jordan and Stokes rarely threatened or offered anything out of the ordinary. Swann took eight wickets last time we played here, Tredwell is a poor replacement. Lack of a quality frontline spinner will cost us against the Aussies too, its the one thing they struggle with.

Just the impression i get, same with willis

Lets cut to the chase, the Windies are a poor side. Englands bowling is poor, take out Anderson and Stokes. No decent spinner and no out and out quickie. Bowlers win games

Some of Windies best players are in India. Shame

D Bravo, Gayle, Simmonds, Narine, Smith, Sammy, Russell....impressive list of absentees.

Mind you we've got Bopara out there so that probably evens things out.

This is really poor. If the West Indies hadn't gifted us a load of wickets earlier today, it could have been downright horrendous.

These are the worst of the "main" recognised test sides when they are at full strength, and they are missing some of their top players.

Why do some people bother wAtching cricket

That was s good test match on a flat pitch and holder played well

You are just the most negative poster I've ever seen.

Why do you follow cricket you get absolutely no enjoyment from it. Idiot.

I love how some people defend a team who cannot bowl a West Indies out team minus Gayle and others in 130 overs.

As for the username, I didn't create it.

The Cook and Moores dream team. Useless

Grow up mate

Why are you ignoring broads record in the last 16 tests? It's been excellent

Nail on head. Let's face it, we knew this was going to cost us games eventually.

It's an issue Yep, don't see why people feel the need to slag the teAm off. We didn't have enough to bowl then out on a flat pitch, not their fault they can't bowl quicker

We do need better bowlers to support broad and Jimmy but I don't agree with the vaughan bit, cook captained well

Even vaughan said so after the match

The only issue is his runs and our lack of pace and spin

This is a hard series to win as the pitches are so poor

I think we will play rashid and Ali next test with stokes missing out

Rashid, Ali and Tredwell? I dont think so

my only criticism of cooks captaincy would be the fact he didnt get the fielders around the bat early enough and not enough short pitched bowling in the last 2 hours

No sorry no Tredwell, yeah possibly right mate.

Ali and Rashid in for Stokes and Tredwell is what I think they might do.

Tredwell done a fine job imo in controlling one end, however it appears he cannot run through an opposition and win a game.
