So any news/scorecards from our games in Dubai? Did we play a 3 day fixture??

Also, it's 8 days til the Uni game - surely they'll be playing some cricket before then?!
Richard Dowson has promised a full report on the tour will be posted today on the club website.

Indoor nets? lets be honest it is still the fag end of the winter in Durham.

Granted, but next Tuesday they've got a friendly against the Uni and the week after the season starts - no matter what the weather - indoor nets won't prepare the lads for playing in Durham (or the rest of england) in April.

Surely better planning could've enabled us to play a 2/3 day friendly against a proper county either home or away between now and the Somerset game.

Looking at recent games against the University - it's no way to acclimatise the lads to Chanpionship cricket.

Thats the problem with starting the season so early, playing outdoors in this weather will probably do more harm than good. Looking on the bright side 2 years ago they went romping up snowy hills in Scotland because they could not practice outdoors and ended up winning the title.

Looking on the not so bright side for you mate, apparently legside lizzie is doing the Durham commentary at Somerset instead of Marty.

Great to see the kids alongside the big names. Any sports where that wouldn't happen?

I find it poor that we've gone to Dubai and just arranged some games last minute. Preparation is key for a lot of things, sounds like we haven't prepared anything and just blagged a couple of games last minute which is poor. A game against Durham Uni is a complete waste of time as well.

Great idea to get the youngster involved as a reward for making the Durham age group sides. i bet they where buzzing and freezing.

The club handled it well. I dont think that the lads and lasses knew quite what to expect and there were some surprised looks on their faces when the first team came out to have their picture taken alongside them. Afterwards Jon Windows took everyone up to the media centre and gave a talk about how everyone from the U12's right through are all in this together. Each age group then had a short discussion with one of the academy players eg Adam Hickey, Jack Burnham etc.

Well very handled and all very inclusive.

Unlikely.

As I said above Jon Windows made a point of telling all the bairns afterwards that everyone right from the U12's to the first team were all in this together. There is one aim, to make Durham CCC as good as it can be ie everyone is in this for the good of the club and everyone should take pride in the club and its achievements. It was quite an inspirational speech from Jon!

Yes- Sussex, Lancs and York's were all out there. I'm sure at least one of them would have been up for at least a 2 day game.
