Thing is if Microsoft & Sony when down that route would they also include games on their previous gen consoles, would these then still be available when moving onto the next gen console? At least with Steam I can still purchase games from over a decade ago and I know they'll still be compatible if I replaced my PC components.

You don't need to buy direct from Steam, you can buy cheaper from other sites, which'll then provide you with a key to use in Steam e.g. DBZ Xenoverse is £39.99 on Steam but £26 on CD Keys:

Cheers for the link to that website, Cities Skyline Deluxe for £15 , its on Steam for £30

I've bit the bullet and bought a gaming PC for myself:

Asrock X58 Extreme6 Motherboard - http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X58 Extreme6/
Intel Xeon 2.80GHz CPU
12GB DDR3 RAM
GeForce GTX 660 EX OC 2GB - http://www.kfa2.com/GTX_660EXOC.shtml

Comes with this case too although I'm sticking it on ebay/Gumtree soon as it doesn't fit in my TV unit:

Cost £150.
Not bad for 150 but that cpu is gash. I'd look for a second hand i7 that will fit that socket board And you'll have a half decent rig.

I wouldn't call it gash, I will change to i7 at some point but for now need another case and an SSD.

Could get an i7 for less than a 120gb ssd and it would be a better improvement.
Less than what? I'd be paying £200+ for a decent i7 CPU, what's the point when I've got a good CPU already and have no interest in overclocking yet.

You need to get a big fat juicy i7 and ram it really hard into that mother.....board.
Here's my Steam collection, I doubt any of these games will stutter with a 2.8GHz 8MB Xeon:

Alan Wake
Alice: Madness Returns
Cook, Serve, Delicious..... That's not mine
Fallout: New Vegas
Goat Simulator
GTA: San Andreas
Just Cause 2
Overlord
Rayman Legends
Real Boxing
Sonic Generations

I don't know what the fuck that means. My last pc was a pentium 120 with 16mb ram. It was awesome. It had a 28.8k modem. I've had Macs since then.

They will stutter if you don't have a decent graphics card and 4 gb or more ram. Even then you probably won't be able to play them all on ultra.
