Calories - surprisingly high meals

I was joking like. Or at least half joking, if presented with fish and chips plus a chinese I probably would eat the lot, but at no point would I think it was particularly good for me...
I know, the problem as I have said is the cumulative effect, I have lost several friends who thought it's ok to overeat to the extent that they didn't even know they were overeating, their waistlines were telling them but they blamed old age (in their 40s). Sadly, I should have told them, but they wouldn't have listened.

I think you're talking extreme extremes there, how many Chris Hoys are there around, remeber you questioned what I said, I know because I lived through it. You don't even know that you don't know. Patronising my backside. Grease nipple.

I think you've completely over-analysed what was a flippant gif. The implication of which was me asking "Are you a family of borrowers or something?"

There are many non-extreme examples of people who would find a modern sized fish lot completely normal as a portion size. Many of whom will have spent their adult life with a lower body fat % than 26 (as you suggested you did).

That's fair enough. Though there are actually a lot of amateur sporting/bodybuilding/weightlifting enthusiasts for whom a takeaway or chippy would actually be a perfectly reasonable meal to have, size wise, due to their calorie requirements at a particular given time.

You were born in 1991, in an age of gluttony, you don't know any better. We older people do know because we actually lived through. Eat what you like, all I am saying is that the portion size now is too big to maintain a healthy weight, especially with he nancyfication of work you can't burn it off.

I'm talking generally, I go to a gym four days a week, what percentage of the population do that, so they also have to cope with a slow metabolism.

I understand what you are getting at, but I think you've chosen the wrong place to do it. The people on this sub-forum are obviously conscious of their weight/health. The person you are replying to, CM, particularly so.

Ok fair enough. For the average member of the population, most portion sizes are indeed too big.

You have spent the entirety of your life fatter than I've ever been man

You'll forgive me if I ignore your dietary advice.

I always assumed that it was ok since so many footballers apparently go there.

I think that's somewhat exagerrated. Most olympic athletes talk of eating about 6,000-7,000 calories per day. Steve Redgrave spoke of his problems while competing since he needed 6,000 a day, but when he was diagnosed with diabetes he had a hellish time getting enough.

I know Michael Phelps claimed to eat some ludicrous amount, but nobody really verified whether he was being serious or not about it.

Maybe Phelps just had "the munchies" at the time...
That dancer who was on celeb big brother when holyfield was in said he had to eat 12000.

Must be bliss.

Must be torture. I'm stuffed with 3200 on a cut. Would hate to be on even 4200 for a mild bulk

If I hated milk life would be impossible. 4 pints of whole milk spread out over the day whacks 2000kcal onto your meals though. And I really like the stuff.

You have that ON bulking mix too don't you? Never looked at bulkers before and couldn't believe how many cals that had

Got to be bollocks like.

I know everybody has various energy demands, but I'd be very suprised if he had to eat that many. Many athletes tend to exaggerate their diet though, whether they're to make out it's 'ultra clean' or a huge amount of calories, it's pretty common that they're talking bollocks

I thought it was mind. Surely if your doing that much graft to warrant that amount then you surely must not have the time to consume it? Unless he's living on Ben & Jerry's while on the go.

Without a doubt. Having looked at what Hoy, Redgrave, Arnie, footballers and NFL players need on a daily basis (4,000-7,000), there's no way that a dancer needs double. That's no disrespect to dancers, they're incredible athletes, but they don't need double the calories that these other guys need.

You do get people who just have weird energy demands, but 12,000kcal is just obscene. To be honest, the majority of athletes don't even know how many calories they eat.
