Thanks for this it's much appreciated, always thought the advice in general was to lean down until you are at a certain by level otherwise you get into trouble if you bulk first.

At your stats mate I'd be quite astonished if you were at a level where I'd advise against bulking (odds of you being really over fat are unlikely). Nice slow bulk, minimal fat gain, probably a bit of a recomposition effect and you'll not only get strong as fuck but notice appearing leaner is easier when you carry more mass

I'm going to go back to the upper lower 4 day routine as more than anything else it fits my schedule, and I enjoy it. Will experiment with a slow bulk and see what occurs. I can see obliques but not abs if that tells you where I'm at.

Nice choice mate.

This video has basically highlighted that I can't do squats. I Can't get down below my knees. The Squats I have been doing have been hopeless. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how I can sort this, I'm clearly not mobile enough.

Well i tried the tip of having my heels raised onto plates, it's made a hell of a difference. I can get down past parallel now. It's a lot harder! I noticed my knees were going inward on the way back up. Ive corrected that and it felt so much harder. Still going to work on my ankle mobility.

Should I still go to the gym tomorrow if I'm sore and stiff as a board? Will be my 3rd day in a row but don't want to stop.

What sort of training have you been doing and how intensely?
Wouldn't say intense but 5 sets of 10 on various machines. I'm not crippled or anything but it's been a good year or since I've had a good workout So naturally sore and stiff.

I could work through it no problem but I want to do it properly and wonder if I need rest, or plod on as it's natural and harmless.

Don't go back and exercise the same muscle groups over consecutive days if possible, except the larger muscles in the posterior chain which can be stimulated more often to get results.

Feel free to have a day off as well. You don't need to train every day.

Decided on my programming (loosely) after this comp. Going with more of a Bulgarian approach. Squats & bench 4-5x per week with deads 1-2x. Let the gains begin...

Going to have today off like. Most of my muscles are knackinget so think it will be a waste of time.

Anyone willing to post progress photos? Got mine at the 6 week mark yesterday, can see a decent difference. Even if I'm not a lot lighter. Too shy to post them but nosey enough to want to see other peoples!

For the stronglift 5x5 routine your meant to go up 2.5kg a session right, problem is my gym doesn't have 1.25kg weights? Obviously im guessing that an uneven bar is a crap idea, so aside from buying my own can anyone suggest a way to get around this?

Would jumping up 5kg every two but maybe increasing the number of reps for one of the two sessions work?

So for squatting:

1. 5kg - 5x5
2. 5Kg - 5 x 7 (?)
3. 10kg - 5x5

Show me yours & i'll show you mine! haha

I do take photos to track my progress but in the same boat as you & wouldn't want my dish on here!

Just had a look, their actually relatively cheap surprisingly.

Does anyone know if the plates are standard size or will I need to find ones that specifically fit the bar in the gym?
if they're Olympic bars (which i'd expect them to be) you'd need to buy Olympic plates.

Depends on you and how fast you're progressing. You should try to make the biggest progression you can for as long as you can. On deadlift you're supposed to increase 5kg a session anyway.

I'd look at getting your own though, what kind of gym doesn't have biscuits?

Scrub your face out on paint if it botheres you. Titus has done that.

There's two videos of me on here. I'm genuinely not arsed if people know who I am

Thank you, will need to go check out the bar first then to get the diameter!

I was surprised too, It seems they have everything else you would need!
