Target weight: 12st 7lb

I'll be getting my exercise on as soon as this chest infection clears and hoping to shift a stone within 2 months

5ft7.5 Set myself the goal of getting down from 14st to 12st 6 at the start of the year by the end of June, lost a few lbs but now up to 14st2. Need to get my diet sorted because I'm going to the gym 2-3 times a week typically.

Age:28
Height: 6 Ft 1 In
Weight: 187lbs
Target Weight: 155lbs

This is the heaviest I've been in my life and I'm feeling it. Got a much better diet through the week (still cane it with the food and drink on a weekend though) but need to step up the exercise. I know I can shift it but need to get my finger out!

I started yesterday. I'm fully motivated. Installed the My Fitness Pal app like recommended on here and have been entering everything I've ate or drank in order to keep check.

I lost a shit load of weight back in 2011 and I have never been fitter or healthier as an adult. Would love to get somewhere like that again. I've set my phone background as a picture of me from then as motivation. Shaved my beard off yesterday to signal the start of a new me  Very, very determined.

As long as people don't mind I'm going to use this thread to help document where I'm at.

My biggest problems when it comes to diet is drink - pop during the day, beer on a night if I'm playing pool - and eating shite at work.

I can knock the pop/beer on the head no bother. Junk food is more of an issue - I usually allow temptation to take over if I'm hungry, so I've started bringing meals to work and have filled my drawer at work with healthy snacks so I don't feel the need to go out and buy shit.

The good thing about my fitness pal is that if you are honest and record EVERYTHING then you start to think 'why the fcuk did I eat that choc bar, it was 200 cals out of my target for the day' and then you try to rectify it the next day. I also find it useful for working out what I'll eat in the forthcoming (days) so that I have breakfast, dinner, evening meal/tea and snacks all planned knowing that I don't have to starve myself when another meal is only 3/4 hours away at max.

I also don't deny myself what I like to eat. Instead of a full Dairy Milk bar I sometimes eat a Freddo bar that is about 95 cals.

You also might try to break bad habits and form good ones. I always associated a cup of tea with 2 or 3 sugars, biscuits, crisps and chocolates but I can just have a tea now with sweetener.

Re: pool, why not drive so that you can't booze?

I'm getting married in June so need to shift the lard to get into a decent looking suit. Started cycling to work and got back on MyFatSecret.co.uk. That site helped me shift 2 and a 1/2 stone a couple of years ago but laziness and greed got me back to within 10lbs of my heaviest. Like Stevie Freestein II has said, if you're honest with your food diary, you make changes and it works.

At that height you are not overweight. 155lbs for a 6'1" bloke is positively biafran!

Re: pool, why not drive so that you can't booze?

Good tips bud. Played pool tonight and drove, it was a few pints of blackcurrant and water for me while the rest of the team were on the piss. Didn't bother me really, I can do without drink.

Today was another good day. I'm keeping the diet strict and I might reward myself next weekend with a nice meal out. I'm trying to keep the first two weeks as strict as possible in order to adjust.

Nice one, booze does pile on the cals, Guinness isn't as bad as some of the others. I might drive to a birthday do at a pub tomorrow so that I don't booze, it's difficult being so popular as I don't want to drink a lot for a few months. ;) You could probably still do what you used to do but plan what you eat for a few days either side of the booze session, there is a thread on this forum somewhere. I thought it easier to just abstain but others say that you could still have beer if you fancy it but lower the carbs IIRC.

I started to use myfitnesspal in the first week of Jan this year and planned to lose 1 lb a week but when I weighed myself after a month I'd lost nearly 2 lb a week so I added another 100 cals onto my daily intake. It's a bit of trial and error but it's nice to know that the plan worked.

One more thing I learned was that you can have 'good' and 'bad' days but try to think of averaging it out over a longer period e.g. at least a week or even longer. So long as there's an overall deficit then you can have monthly 'treats', I still have a takeaway each week but I might drop that to fortnightly.

That's the plan. I've got myself penciled in for something nice next Sunday. Might go for an Italians or something.

The beauty of living in South Tyneside is that we have a takeaway service that only does 'clean' (whatever that means) meals.

Ordered stuff from them in the past and the food is great. It's not your typical takeaway but a very wholesome alternative. Anyone else ever eaten from them?

That's a good idea but they should really show how many cals are in each meal?

I order chicken tikka without the sauce, it's delivered with a salad. Or I add a bit of chicken tikka balti too and don't eat all of the oily sauce. Small portion of rice.

With Chinese I go for chicken with cashew nuts and beef in black bean sauce, half a tub of each and a small amount of rice.

Can't seem to get below 190lbs. Looking back over my weight and I've rarely been less than that, dipped below it for my wedding but not for long. Starting to think it's my natural weight, is there such a thing?!?

I'm feeling positive that I've lost a few pounds but will be waiting till my Monday weigh-in to check.

Other than the 3kg I got rid of in the first couple of weeks after Christmas, my weight hasn't really gone any lower than 78kg (apart from the odd day here and there when I'm probably dehydrated in the morning).

I'm not fussed though as the regular photos I've been taking show a big difference, and I've been measuring my gut pretty regularly which has dropped from 85cm to 81.5cm.

I'm split between constant craver and feaster. I'm not an emotional eater unless you count "boredom". The only time I don't feel hungry is if I've absolutely stuffed myself e.g. Christmas dinner. And in about 2 hours I'll be hungry again.

5.9 and was about 13 clem at Xmas. Been doing my best to eat right and run since then. Joined the gym yesterday and weighed myself to surprisingly find I'm 11.4.

11 stone was my target but I still have quite a bit puppy fat unfortunately. I think losing another stone to 10.4 will have me kicking sand in people's faces come my holidays in June.

I hammer the coffee with semi skimmed milk. Really going to have to have it black or is about 6 cups a day with milk only ok?
It won't be much depending on how much milk you have in.

I only buy full fat and I was having so little it became pointless. Saves me 100 cals per day.

At least all isn't lost for me then. I honestly thought it would be my down fall as a cuppa is one of my little pleasures.
